hey how do you set your aircraft to self navigate like to make turns climb and decsend and land?

like if i were to levae the computer for 4 hours and i was flying from london to phl what would i set to let it fly there it-self?

and landing, people have posted how to do it but i still have trouble with the auto-pilot landing!

Having an active flight plan and the AP working, there should be no problem. If you don't want to lose your flight plan, you just wait till the next handoff. Confirm it, but don't call the next agent. When you come back again hours later and tune the current agent, ATC will say any course advise that would have been transmitted in the time you were away. Ignore them and just confirm the latest, so you'll be fine.
This is (hello Insured Disaster: Here's the answer!) useful when you want to investigate fuel consumption on a long distance flight while sitting in front of another PC and telling people how to use FS Smile Very Happy Laughing . Best example is my IFR USA Was-GER Seattle Boeing Field to Munich flight of wich I recently posted the data. It will work as long as you don't have to change your altitude. When you miss the point of descending, your flightplan will be void.
(Game over. Try again, insert coin...)

Auto landing is - as far as I know - not possible in FS unless you got special add ons like the PSS MCDU of their FS2002 A319/20/21 add on. (no, it does not work in FS04 Crying or Very sad ) That means, shortly before just hitting the ground, you must lift the nose (well, the plane's nose! Rolling Eyes ) by yourself in order not to drill it in the tarmac. Till that point, AP and AT will do nearly anything you want if you do it correctly.

I'm gonna ask our Admin if it was possible to add an ILS tutorial with screenshots here. But if he agrees, it will take some time for I am busier as the money polishers of Bill Gates...

There is a program that will fly the entire flight for you- FSNAV. There is also a small program called Autoland that will land for you. I used FSNAV for awhile, but since I like to control the plane, it got to be too much of a drag to use it. If I use it at all anymore, I use it to figure flight plans. I just recently downloaded autonav and don't really know much about it yet, just letting you know of it's existance. If I like it, I'll post a review of it later.

Hey Flyrcoyle, where did you get the program? I wouldn't mind giving it a go.

Regards

FSNAV can be obtained in the download section here, either do a search for FSNav or search for the file directly. File names are: fsnav460.zip for FS9 and fsnave440.zip for FS2k2. Cool
