Once you have the tail texture in your editor (having been placed there by DXTbmp), you then open the desired image you want to use, then use your tools to resize, trim, crop or whatever to get the desired portion to fit your tail. I always select the area I want to fill with the image and use "paste into". Once you have it the way you want, then "merge visible" and "save" . Go back to DXTbmp (hopefully you didnt close it) and "reload after edit", make sure you have MipMaps/include when saving UN-checked for best clarity in the sim. Then save and answer yes to overwrite.
