I flight planned a flight from St Catherines to Toronto CYYZ air port - once i got the okay to take off and all - 2 questions:

1. I selected CYYZ as my destination airport and clicked find route, this resulted in a pink line in my GPS which directs me to the airport which is fine - my question is once i am in the air and i want to contact that air port, why is it so diffuclt to find the air port - i have to keep toggling through the air ports near you b4 i find it and finally i tune it...am i doing someting wrong?

2. My default when i am taking off i noticed heading bug to 24 - so when i am in the air i bank to that heading and sure enough i am en route the pink line on my way to the air port - question is once the contact my landing air port i request clearance for a full stop landing and he tells me - runway 6L and altimeter 2992 - i am not sure what this mean - does it mean i should start heading in direction 60? and what does 2992 mean?

please and thank yous

I'm going to point you to the sim lessons portion of FS9.
These questions are answered in them.

he means that there is a large glossary in the FS learning center. Start FS, at the opening menu (aircraft selection) screen, look on the left and select Learning Center. The learning center for Fs9 was one of the most improved parts of FS and is very complete in my opinion from a user level.

Chances are you are either to far away to contact the airport, or you have selected a VFR flight profile. This means you have to fly the airplane into the "local" Toronto airspace before they are going to want you to talk to them.
If you are 30 miles away from the airport, the tower at Toronto doesn't really care. You are outside their zone of control. You are still under the guidance of Toronto Center. Toronto Center is not the airport, and the don't care what you want to do, they just want you out of their airspace and to pass you off to some one else, like Toronto Approach Control. This is why you are scrolling through radio frequencies and have to look for the airport, you are simply not close enough to talk to who you think you should be talking to.

Thanks GS Smile
