In FS9 from the default Cessna to the Default747 none of my aircraft has rudder movement when viewed from the rear .I tried removing the tick from auto-rudder in Settings but it's still the same .The ailerons have movement .I am using a Saitek ST2000 USB joystick. boldpilot

Bold, this is not an effect. I don't have the tools to move it from this forum.

It would be a problem with an animation.

A setting somewhere would cause this. I'm using a X52 and all the birds show rudder deflection when I twist the stick. You have checked all your settings correct? Stick settings? Rudder enabled?
Do you have no rudder input when you fly the planes?

Hi Cat. RD and Mel were on about this subject blocking up the Effects file so I opened up this one .
No none of my aircrafts rudders move ,I think my settings are OK but I cannot twist my joystick, it's fixed , maybe that's my problem. The ailerons and elevators move with joystick input and the aircraft turn OK .I might have to wait and get a new stick that turns ,Thanks anyway. boldpilot

Try updating your driver for it. It is one of those sticks that are a bit picky on the drivers.

Hi Guy's contacted the Saitek supplier for a driver but I'm not holding my breath. Got rudder movement with num pad 0 and Enter which does steer the plane [747] but I would prefer that I could steer with rudder from the joystick . Having a look at a Saitek Aviator costs 25GBP, maybe Santa Clause will visit me if I'm good. boldpilot

No worries, Mate!

You just hit upon the key.
If you are not using a twist stick, nor a set or rudder pedals then you don't have a way of "controlling" the rudder without using the keyboard. No control equals no rudder throw in an external view. If you have "coordinated turns" enabled you shouldn't have a flight problem, and that sounds to be true. It is also sounding to me as just the lack to be able to control the rudder independently of the ailerons, correct? But if you lay the stick over one direction or the other you still turn, the nose wheel turns to/matches the direction of the turn according to your stick deflection. If turning LEFT, your LEFT aileron pops up a bit or that left wing control surface pops up, while the RIGHT side goes down.
If it does you do not have a problem, working as advertised.
But you may want to look into a control system that twists or rudder pedals.
You don't already have rudder pedals do you?

Yes you have the idea with my joystick the control surfaces work as they should and, No I don't have pedals as yet . Thanks for your reply,boldpilot

If you're not ready to spring for a yoke and rudder pedal set up and don't have a twist-handle joystick...I remember reading here ages ago that someone had somehow hooked up the racing pedals from a cheap, second-hand steering wheel and pedal set into their USB port or something...and they worked as rudder pedals when configured properly!
Just a thought.

D'oh!... I gapped on that one...easy to forget where you are and mess up the helpful and obviously needed directional, organized way the forum board is set up. Hey! I'll betcha THAT'S what the Moderators are for...glad someone's paying attention to the details! Laughing
