These glasses work most of the time in most software. They do work in FS2002. However, the novelty soon wears off. Anyone in the UK interested in buying a pair, used for two days only. These are the wireless variety and cost me £84-00 including postage from the States. Make me an offer. Cool

I thought the idea of 3D vision with a flight sim something that could not be achieved with any great outcomes, until I purchased the E-Dimentional glasses. They were advertised on the Surclaro homepage, and I thought they must be good if endorsed by our cool flight sim site. I purchased them, and within a few days my mate also bought a pair. We went for the IR ones, and I have no regrets. If you are a real flight sim enthusiast (like we probably all are) I think they're great. They are a little funny on the eyes at the start, but when aligned properly, and worn for short periods of time, like 1 hour at a time, I've had no problems with them. I thoroughly recommend them to anyone. My computer Spec is: Pentium 1.6GHz, 512RAM, 200GBb HDD, Geforce 4.

I sold mine for a fraction of the original price as neither my son or I found the irritation of wearing them worth the extra pleasure they gave us in games. Perhaps the problem lies with us and not the 3d glasses!

I'm glad that you enjoy your 3d specs and hope that you continue to do so. However, I think that the advertising and reviews of EDimensional glasses are so full of hyperbole that it's difficult to distinguish between them.

I enjoy FS2002 and I enjoy visiting sites like surclaro, avsim etc., but since my experience with the 3d specs, I treat their reviews with a considerable degree of scepticism. Particularly in the light of the fact that the manufacturers seem to sponsor the reviewing sites.

Has anyone seen any other 3D glasses than EDimensional's reviewed on a flight sim site?

Just a note for you'all to consider. They supply drivers for Nvidia video cards. However, they have been experimenting with Beta Test drivers for ATI Radeon cards for many months. I loved my glasses when I used to have a Nvidia video card. However, now that I am using an ATI Radeon 9500 Pro, I am unable to get them to work. Sad

I'm with SkipperDan - in fact we've both contributed on this subject before.

The 3D glasses do not work with my ATI card, and E-Dimensional people are no help what-so-ever. The only advice that they gave me was to reload the software.

And yes, I have the X-3D version (from what I can tell they are identical..same hardware) and they have always worked with my ATI graphics cards. I have never used them with nVidea as I won't buy those cards. You are right, the staff there sucks!!!!! They swear that the glasses can NOT work with ATI and yet, I have had mine for almost 2 years now and they work like a dream. The software runs on my computers with no problem. I have sent my software to others that have the glasses and they have never gotten them to work. Yet I just put in the cd, and install. No problems. It doesn't give errors at all. Just installs. And the glasses work.

As for the eyes problems....that is normal. You are not used to the frequency that your get via your glasses. Thus, the problems. However, you MUST turn your frequency on your monitor up to the maximum that it will go. NOTE: This is the way you should have it anyways, as the higher it is set, the less eye strain you will get normally viewing hte monitor. The best for the your eyes as well as the best for the glasses is 100mhz or better. My monitor only can get up to 85, but that is acceptable. I have tried the glasses on a montitor that got 120, and it was so much easier on the eyes.

I am surprised that they are even beta testing with ATI as they have a license agreement with nVidea. I am also very surprised that they would choose to say the hell with 70% of all graphics cards users. How stupid can you get?

Anyways, again, no clue why they have always worked on my systems and on my ATI cards. They worked just fine on:

ATI 7200 Radeon All-In-Wonder Pro 32megs
ATI 9200 Radeon Pro 128 megs
ATI 9800 Radeon Pro 128 megs

Those cards on systems from 1.3ghz through 3.3ghz.

According to an announcement today, Edimensional will now support all video cards and also LCD and CRTs with their 3 dimensional glasses. I have downloaded the new software but have not tested it yet. Cool

The ED 3 dimensional glasses don't work with an ATI card YET. They are supposed to be putting out drivers for any ATI card, but that rumor has been going around for over a year. As for Leporello, you must not have your glasses set up right. It took me some tweaking to get it where I can where them for a 4 or 5 hour flight with no discomfort.

They absolutely do have a driver out for ATI now. I found it on their site. I don't use it as I have never needed it.... the glasses just work on my system, always have. However, goto their site and get the beta driver for ATI. It absolutely DOES exist.

They finally came out??? I switched back to a Nvidia card just because ATI was so slow in putting out the compatible 3D drivers

hehe, I would live without 3d glasses before I ever put an nVidia card in my computer. I know they are great...and people love them, but I am just loyal to my ATI's. Hacks me off to no end that they are dropping the ball on some new technology that nVidia already built into their cards, but ATI doesn't know for sure if they should do it yet.... And to boot, they have told their licensees that they are NOT to include this new technology into their software products... Thus, software companies are having to either build lower quality products for ATI use or put in the code but make it shut off when used with ATI's. Very very stupid on ATI's part... But, I have faith that once again (and it will take 2-3 years) they will be back on top and destroy nVidia cards.

Cool

Do you know ATI's reasoning for not adding the latest, greatest technology to their cards? Seems like they forgot that they are in a graphics card race,

I honestly don't remember. I saw the entire thing about this a year or 18 months ago on Tech TV. They gave almost 30 minutes of the show to it. Leo was quite hacked off about it. I wish I could remember what it was, but I do remember that apparently ATI was NOT convinced that this new tech was the way to go. So now, they are in second place and have a ton of catching up to do. argh!

Has anyone tried these new e-dimensional 3D glasses with a TFT monitor and FS9?

I have a 17" Dell laptop with an ATI Mobility Radeon X300 graphics card and don't want to buy these glasses without some assurance that they are likely to work well and enhance the flying experience.

I'd appreciate your feedback.

Dan
