Hi Jaeger, Why don't you borrow the Beech and follow the coast to see the scenery .Keep low down about 1500 feet so that you can see the details .Tune Misawa RJSM if you want to fly IFR with an ILS landing just up the coast from Sendai. ILS is 109.70 mg/h. Set the weather to clear .I fly all over the place that looks interesting .Interesting spots can be had from Google no doubt. Use the GPS as a moving map .BP
What an interesting adventure… After landing back at Jakarta again I decided to go solo into a new area of town alone, South Jakarta to a restaurant by the name of Boka Buka. It’s a place serving classic French cuisine with an Asian twist. I remember getting there and eating a Tomato Feta Salad followed by Escargots Bourgogne and that is nearly the last thing I remember. As I started my trip back to the airport, I got very warm, well down right hot. I had to ask the driver to pull over so I, well, could get sick. It was unpleasant to say the least but I thought it was just me being me and having eaten out of some street vendor stalls earlier in the day I didn’t think much more of it. I took another cab back to the airport then cleared customs and wandered to and climbed back into my Maddie and passed out for a bit. Apparently something was now very wrong, I felt horrible! I had green tea to drink with the meal and the only thing stronger I had that day was coffee. At first, I thought something had not been washed or cooked properly and I was getting sick from it. But not just the normal type of food poisoning, it didn’t feel the same as food poisoning though, I didn’t really have an upset belly, but I knew something was wrong. I was burning up. I called ground control and asked about a Hospital, I think… I remember saying medical emergency and loosing the ability to keep my balance. Then everything went grayscale then dark and black into oblivion.
17 days later, I really “woke up” with some real intelligence in South Jakarta Hospital and was told I caught something that made it a bit worse than food poisoning and quite deadly… Or so they had thought. At first due to the high fever and minor coughing and where I had been they thought it was Bird Flu… They tested me as I was told and found that I was clear of any virus of that nature. So I was cleared of that, but on day three, my fever soared to 106 degrees F and the coughing was almost constant with much phlegm being expelled. I had a wicked variety of the flu; they had to pack me in ice to reduce my body temp. And I was left in to long and became hypothermic, so they had to warm me back up which set off the fever again this time to 104 and just to make it more interesting for them I showed them what I look like when I go into thermal shock and quit breathing for a few sporadic minutes. My medical papers state a DNR order should I need more than breathing assistance. So they were stopped from doing anything else but pushing medications and hoping for the best…
I was raised in my young years in a high altitude environment, my heart and lungs are larger than most folks and this was a concern for them, they thought it was a defect, but it kept me alive in this case. My lungs naturally have fluid in them at low and wet altitudes and that fluid was the phlegm being brought up because of the oxygen. Day 5, they found another cause of the fever, I had Malaria, and so they pumped me full of Primaquine for it and that nearly killed me again. My Native American blood doesn’t play well with the industry curative for Malaria. I was told I came to long enough to several times say “Quinine” and be ignored up until they ran out of ideas. Day 6 and 7 the Primaquine was dropped as a test and they pumped me on a drip of quinine and saline and the fever broke. Day 8 arrived, and they put me back on Primaquine as I had partially regained movement and thought, that made me crash out again. Day 9 to day 12 they pulled the Primaquine again and regained the quinine and saline drip. Beyond that I was kept to make sure that I didn’t have bird flu, and to be monitored, which since I had nearly died twice I didn’t mind. I was really weak and not looking forward to doing much of anything anyway, I rested.
Now with a clean bill of health and a huge hospital bill to forward to the home I have been released from the hospital.
I hope to make the flight to Darwin tomorrow…
Late afternoon start leaving WIII, it was about 1600 local time when I got everything going and started going through the check list having finished the walk around. Still feeling quite weak and not going to push it much, was not sure about a night flight after the fever and such. It usually affects my eyes after being ill, I wasn’t looking forward to it but I had to go.
Overall the flight 6C was rather uneventful, got smacked about a bit on take off by some side loading winds that rolled the aircraft here and there for about a minute. Landing was a bit of a challenge, I kept chasing the line up. Then when I got on the ground I noticed a couple of different wind socks both were showing wind in different directions. Now I’m for some well deserved sleep and to check in to customs for a shower and a proper shave.
I know everyone is anxious to resume the "Maddie Flight". None moreso than me! But truth be known, I'm thankful for this little break while RD gets his rig sorted out. Best of luck, RD!!!
I still have yet to complete the last mission (PGSN - RJSS). I completed about half of the flight in one sitting some weeks ago bugot tired and saved out the flight to resume at another time. When the time came to resume, the flight was missing! So, there's nothing for it but to fly it again from scratch!
That's just one of my projects (among too many to count) for this weekend. Which is to say nothing of wanting to create a short or long fictional dialogue to post up for entertainment purposes. Don't know if I'll be able to accomlish all that, but it's ever on my mind!
Not wanting to be the one to put you under any pressure, I do look forward to reading your stories, and Cat's come to that....... And I'm sure both your natural talents will shine through, and something will spring to mind.
Just had news, that one of the Honda Jets is being flown out here, my Maddie Beech is being flown on to the next destination, whever that may be. So, I am looking forward to trying out this baby on the next leg, if she performs as well as the Beech, I am sure I will enjoy the flight....... (casting my mind back to RD's devious idea's) ....... I hope..
Hi Guy's , Just gave the Maddie jet a short familurisation trip in readiness for the next leg from Japan . Looks as though it will be a long one as there is a hostess available too,Or is this the co-pilot. [see photo]. BP
I put this question to management early on in the project. It would seem to be the next logical progression. I will take some time to work on the birds and get them up to some sort of FSX standard. I do know that the Honda does work in FSX, but of course there will need to be some gauge issues worked out along with a few of the effects. Give it a couple of weeks to turn something out. As always, we aim to please.....your aim will help
