It's of poor quality and scenery... But at least it's my first video. Wink http://www.simtube.com/view_video.php?viewkey=f2352cf4dec30222a02a

It's a treat when this thread livens up...good reading (great reading, when you folks get on a roll embellishing with words and pics.), and is probably the best thread we have going...well, the Memorial Flight stuff is pretty exciting too. Keep up the good work, words and collaborations - from the web site to the flight plan packages through to the narration, etc, quite entertaining.

EDIT: @ CAT1, Just watched your video, pretty cool for your first one bud. I'm not even going to critique anything 'cause I know you know what you want to do and just have to play a bit more, eh? I will mention that I would have liked to have seen the 'MADDEE' up closer a few times.

The Steve Hinson Memorial flight, the latest video was really together flying, our member's sense of fun and teamwork is pretty cool to see in action now.

Mel, hope you don't mind if I link directly to the video...

Hi Cat,Watched your video. As you say it was a bit scratchy for a start but it was apparent the Maddie was rock and Rollin',interesting all the same .
I have just been and done another take-off at Darwin on Flight 7 and even taxiing the wind was severe .For the take-off I used the Saitek twisty stick with which I had better control then just clear of the ground I went onto auto-pilot which calmed the rockin' down somewhat.
Is there a limit on wind speed for take-off in real time.BP

Yeah..... if I want you to experience it. lol Cool

Nice vid Cat for your first. As Hark, a few close ups would have helped alot. Watch some on Youtube, to get an idea. That helped me.....some.

I have some raw vids of a couple of the Maddie flights, as well as the Memorial Flight practice. Just haven't had time to do any editing for a quality vid. If that's possible.

BTW: Has anybody flown flight 9 or 10 yet???

RD

Sendai, Japan [RJSS].

Number one for take off Runway Niner at 0437 hours.

Beautiful, relaxing flight all the way to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsk [UHPP].

As soon as the Japanese coast came into sight I was surprised, I kept looking out the left window and kept seeing the same thing.
SNOW, snow, snow? Why does it look like there is snow on the ground? There can’t be snow on the ground, its early May… This is typhoon season; there is no snow in typhoon season. I forgot where I was in the geography of Japan, though unusual, it does sometimes snow here in the typhoon season if an especially strong cold front crosses the Sea of Japan and clears the mountains to the West.
After landing I decided that there was a lot to see in the area and a lot of history as well. I wandered off on my own to visit the restoration work going on at Aoba Castle, this was the castle of the feudal lord Date Masamune, on of the original castles lest from the 10th Century in its form. It was highly damaged in the fire bombings that were carried out in WWII, but it was amazing to see the parts that were being rebuilt and to imagine the numbers of shogun that had stood before it in those times.
I went to visit the temple, commonly referred to as Zuigan-ji, of course I wasn’t allowed in but I got to pray in the courtyard, Maddie was on my mind there.
From there a short trip to Matsushima Bay, where there are PINE TREES! OMG Pine trees! I was so excited to be back into the Northern latitudes where I recognized the trees to be PINE. I admit it, I hugged a tree. I got made fun of by the locals and then they started doing it as well. But then again here in Japan they have “fertility symbols” that they hug on as well… I am not going to hug a wooden p-nus… PERIOD!
And with that they kind of in a mocking way told me it was time to go… I tried to look for a licensed foo goo joint but it wasn’t in the time table for this city, and I returned to the airport.

You boys scratch up my airplanes and you can sweep the tarmac at NKL........with a toothbrush. We've been going over trip reports and standard telemetry data here in "the shack" and there seems to be the faint possibility the fuel loading for the long range missions are causing some sort of harmonic dissonance with the main spar where it passes through the #3 root brace between the main gear boxes. What that means gentlemen, is let's be a little more careful than usual about icing conditions. It has been determined that the harmonic could dislodge large pieces of fuselage ice which would in turn damage the elevators if they were to strike them during cruise. Just thought I would cheer ya'll up a bit......that is all, carry on.

Hi GS, I think that ice damaged or jammed my elevators on the climbout from Yelizova either that or the auto pilot went stupid .All will be revealed later .BP

BP, please don't publish flight details, other than your own experiences, there are others who are way behind you, dont spoil the effect for them.

Thanks

Mel.
