Woke this morning at 4:30am to find Brass Monkey weather, Sarah was already on board when I arrived at the apron around 6am, so was our little Asian hottie, who was already settled in, book on her lap as before, I though to myself, this is gonna be another quiet flight as far as she was concerned. Chatting to Sarah whilst doing the pre flight checks, I asked her how she was this morning,,,,,,,, " Pretty Good" she replied, " Have you heard from John or Ardie lately" she asked, "No, why should I have", watching her gazing out the port window, "Just wondered" she said, "they put me through hell a few weeks back"….. “Did they give you a hard time”, wondering if she regretted signing up for this in the first place…. “No, not really…. They are a couple of pussycats to be honest, I think they both tried to flirt with me somewhat, it was funny to see them both trying to compete for the high ground”, I chuckled under my breath, thinking, I bet both of them wished they were in the hot seat right now.

“Weather report looks pretty gruesome Mel”, “Yep, but we should be ok once we get above it…….” . Spooled up the engines, and the heat started to rise in the cabin…. Ok, Runway 26 it is, let’s get the show off the ground. As we taxied round, there was nothing moving but us, everyone else was still tucked up in bed, Hmmmm, “That’s where I should be” I remember thinking to myself.

As we trundled down the runway, I could feel the crosswind coming from our starboard side, pretty strong it was too, lightning was all around us, this ain't gonna be a comfortable flight.

Once we turned onto our track, we soon found ourselves above the storm, and heading for Kulusuk, god knows what it’s going to be like there, well, it’s goodbye to Iles-de-la-Madeleine, and onward to much colder climates…

To be continued………………

Mel.

Thanks for the shots....they pointed up something that I had missed in the night....note the misaligned light splash on the fuselage in the first pic. Expect updates in the very near future. I pride myself on how my repaints appear in screenshots....it's sort of a stealth art or art by proxy much like the color houses that provide artists with their pigments.

Never noticed GS, but for the life of me, I cannot see where you mean, unless it's the second pic, and not the first.

CONTINUED........ (With a difference)

Now we are up here, the weather is great, the sun begins to rise above the horizon and streams through the cockpit windows, Sarah pulled out her sunglasses and placed them on her face, where'as a few minutes before we were staring into inky blackness,

http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa287/graham605/BGKK_1.jpg

As we climbed to 25,000ft, we discussed the possible weather up front, reports we were getting, were sketchy to say the least, but for now, we enjoyed what we had been given.... blue skys, and fluffy white clouds.

http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa287/graham605/BGKK_2.jpg

The flight seemed to run without any problems, the Honda was handling really well, and the flight was smooth.... But, somehow, I kept thinking this is too good to be true, what's really waiting for us up ahead. Not ever having visited Greenland before, and it not being on the top of my holiday list for places to visit, niether of us really new what the experience was to be like.

http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa287/graham605/BGKK_4.jpg

As we approached the coastline, I could see some heavy clouds forming, that nagging doubt I had in the back of my mind, was begining to haunt me, jesus, from here they look pretty bad. As we drew nearer, we started to hit a few turbulance, the Honda was begining to get a buffeting, all loose bit and pieces Sarah decided to stow away, not knowing how bad this was going to be, the last thing I needed was for rubbish to be rolling around the flightdeck.

http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa287/graham605/BGKK_6.jpg

We flew straight into the first bank of clouds, and then it really hit us, I now know what it must be like to be shaken like a rag doll....... This was the worst so far, my earlier fears were now a reality, Big Time...

http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa287/graham605/BGKK_7.jpg

I had to make a decision pretty fast, do I try and climb above it, or do I risk decending, we were not far out from Kulusuk, some 30 odd nm.... so it was pointless gaining hight, so I decided to drop my altitude as quickly as possible. We were still being thrown around pretty bad, and as we decended through the cloud, we hit a rain storm, how bad is this gonna get I wondered.

http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa287/graham605/BGKK_8.jpg

This was not easing off in the slightest, in fact, it was getting worse, now I had to think, would it be possible to make a landing at all, and if not, where the hell do we divert too......... suddenly huge chunks of ice and snow were battering the windscreen, all I need now is for one of them to come through.... Our passenger was throwing up in a sick bag... obviously not enjoying the experience.....

http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa287/graham605/BGKK_9.jpg

I was down to 5,000, and still it was a white out, being we were over water, I made the choice to drop another 1,000........ I started my run in, despite the fact that I could not see the ground conditions, we were still on track and attempting finals, Sarah repeatedly tried to make radio contact, but nothing came back. If I had to abort the landing, we were going to find out pretty soon..... Suddenly, at 4,500 it cleared, all went calm as fast as it has started, we could see the ground, and we were pretty much bang on course, despite being thrown all over the sky, Sarah spotted the runway before I did, we strained our eyes to see if there were any other aircraft around, or on the strip, I didn't want to go around, this baby is going down at the first attempt.

http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa287/graham605/BGKK_10.jpg

Still no radio communication, it was looking good, so I went for it, Sarah was doing a great job as my spotter.... and I thought thank god I had her here with me, she made a difficult job a good deal easier.

http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa287/graham605/BGKK_11.jpg

The final run in and touchdown was surprisingly smooth, we must have flown straight through the storm, from where we could see through the cockpit, the sky had suddenly cleared....... We taxied to a spot near the only two buidings that were there, and came to a halt, everything suddenly went very quiet, as the engines spooled down, Sarah went to check on our passenger to make sure she was ok, and made sure she was wrapped up warm, then assumed her position in order to escort her of the plane.

http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa287/graham605/BGKK_12.jpg

This was by far the most difficult landing of all, despite coming in a little too fast, and the runway being pretty short, this great aircraft made it without too much drama..... I patted the dashboard, and unclipped by setbelt to join the others outside.

That one was hairy.......... Rolling Eyes

Since this post......... I have had a major PC crash.... from which it was impossible to recover from my usual methods, I have lost about 90% of everything I had as regards to FS9.

At present, I have a virgin XP Machine, it's going to take forever to get back all that I had.

Teamspeak has also gone, along with ALL my FS addons.

So you lost all your files too? Have you tried taking out the hard drive and using it as a secondary HD?

Gosh Mel, I'm sorry! Any ideas about what might have caused it?

Seems like you and RD got hit by something almost simultaneously...well, almost! I hope this won't turn out to be some kind of domino effect! Twisted Evil

Do you not have any kind of backup image of your HDD? If not, it's time to look into getting a good recovery suite. My recommendation is Acronis True Image 11 Home version.

Anyway I can help, please let me know!

Lost all my network drivers, I had absolutly no internet conection, then I noticed a few other drivers had gone missing, I tried my usual trusted method of escape, but nothing worked....... then had no choice but to use System Recovery, all my payware was backed up on a second drive, so I have not lost them. All my Maddie pics are lost, except for those on Photobucket, all movie files gone. and of course, all freeware addons in fs9 including aircraft.

All seems good now though, just a lot of work ahead restoring as much as I can.

May need some help from a few of you guys a little later. .. but i'll give you a shout when I'm ready.

Hopefully RD will do me a big favour, I lost the Hinson Memorial Tomcat.

Still......... it could have been a lot worse......... I have no idea what caused it......... 99% sure it wasn't a virus.

Sorry to hear about that Mel. I've got issues too on my PC.

Friday the 5th, I sent out my work emails at 3am, and went to bed. When I woke up, the screen was black, with this message "Windows could not find system32. A file or folder may be corrupt or missing". The dam thing wouldn't even let me boot up in any form or fashion in safe mode. It did ask for the cd-rom to repair its self. It wouldn't recognize it, much less open it up (cd).

The hard drive in question is 7yrs old, and an IDE. My other two are about a year old, and SATA. Now my other problem begins. My MB only has 2 SATA connections, and doesn't recognize a SATA HDD for operating windows as the boot drive. Right now my IT-GEEK-FREAK bro has it, and doing what is needed to be done.......hopefully.

Glad you got yours sorted out pretty quick. Sucks losing all that info, and then having to put it back. I'll be in the same boat, when I get mine back ( IF...I get it back. )

And no I didn't have any viruses. I check them every Sunday and Wednesday.

Otherwise guys, untill I get it back, up and running again, I won't be able to send out any more flights for Maddie. This POS, won't run FS9 at all. POS.

If someone wants to do the last 2 flights, PM me, and I'll tell you what they are, and you/them can set them up, and send them to Vince. Otherwise, you'll have to sit on ice for awhile. LOL..... Now THAT...is FUNNY.
