I bought FSX yesterday and when I installed it, it works but is severly slow. It only works if there is not scenery or detail at all! My computer is a brand new Sony Vaio and has all the requirements listed on the FSX box. I use FS2004 all the time and never had a problem on this computer with it. After I put FSX on, it show I have 63% space left. it sould work without any problems right? If anyone could help, I would appreciate it.

Hiya...might as well post up all your system specs. CPU type & speed, amount of RAM, what exact video card is in there, etc, etc, as the people here that can help you will ask for more info from you for sure.
Your Sony is a laptop? There might be immediate issues for FSX performance if your video/graphics card is not up to snuff, and CPU speed and RAM is a big deal for FSX performance.
...And those specs that microsoft puts on the retail box shouldn't even include the 'minimum specs' as far as I'm concerned. They really oughta just list the 'recommended specs'...less lunchbag letdown that way.
Also, make sure you have the first service pack installed; SP1...apparently the performance gain is significant.
I'm out...I don't have FSX and can only offer general advice. My suggestion is to check your post frequently over the weekend after posting your machine's specs, and in the meantime educate yourself as much as
possible online...scour the FSinsider site and the net for performance tweaks and tips and get ready to 'settle' for those sliders lower than you might have thought. |

FSX is a resource, CPU, graphic, RAM, hog.
If you didn't spend $2,000 for your rig, then your not going to be able to see alot. FS2004 is alot friendlier on computers than FSX.
Post up your system specs, so we can have a better idea of what you have.
Also check the announcement at the top of this forum. Get the Service Pack 1 update. It will help out alittle on your rig.

| Whoa! You're not going to run FSX with good performance or graphics on that system.. |

| Yeah, maybe a graphics card upgrade. You could use another Gig of RAM too...FSX is just going to choke up what you have now if you start maxxing settings sliders. |

| That's the thing. I have no scenery at all. Every slider for all options is at the lowest possible. That's the only way it will work. I can't move one bar or else it slows down. that makes me mad. I played the demo and really liked the game. I might just bring it back the store. |

Just a little advice- if you have a decent knowledge of computers, and how to put stuff in, like CPUs and RAM and all that good stuff- instead of buyin from the store, where buying a DECENT computer costs almost 2000 bucks, try looking online. You can get an excellent computer for about 1500- 2000. Good ones are less than 1000.
There's tons of websites you can use- I'm sure everyone here has their favorite. For me? I use a combination of all of them. Because I'm cheap.... |

Ouch.....
Don't get me wrong, or take this wrong, but.....OUCH.
That spec you posted up, should have been on a computer 5 years ago.
I will try and break it down for you, as politely as possible, and suggest what you should have gotten.
Processor genuine intel(R) CPU T2060 @1.60GHz 1.60GHz This should be, at the lowest, 2.60GHz or higher. Speed is everything for FSX.
Memory (ram) 1014 MB Minimum should be 2024MB or 2 Gigs. If you can get more, the better
System Type: 32 Bit operating system This is fine
Video RAM: 224MB Total Available Graphics Memory You want this to be higher also.
Chipset: Intel® 943GML
Interface: VGA Out with Smart Display Sensor
Processor: Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 950
You didn't mention your Graphic card, but looking at your Processer, it is actually your GPU or G-Card. Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 950 This thing is not made to handle FSX, even on the lowest settings.
My next question,.... Is this a laptop or desktop rig?? It will make a difference for any help you may need later.
While you may be in the ballpark for minimum spec requirements for FSX, you will find out, as most here already know. That even to run FS2004/FS9, you really should double almost all the requirements, to get what you think you should get, as for all aspects of a game.
If you feel bad now, just a second.....I have more bad news.
This system will run FS2004/FS9. But you will not get all the eye candy that you think you should get.
Please do not take this personally, not my intention. But it is the truth.

Actually, RD, I disagree with you partly. The CPU is fine. The T2060 is Intel's new Core 2 architecture (Pentium Dual-core, FYI). The architecture can acheive a lot more instructions per clock. So high clock speeds aren't really necessary.
The 2.60 ghz minimum requirement may apply for a processor based off the Pentium 4 architecture or similar. |

No problem Viche, I didn't know it was a Dual Core system.
But honestly, only a speed of 1.6, seems very slow, even for a Dual Core system.

| Maybe a little overclocking would help, only if your computer's BIOS allows it. |

| Let's not go down that road of recommending the "O" word. Let's leave the overclocking to someone who is willing to void their warrenty. |
