Dear Forum Members,
I've been wanting a smoke effect that looks close to the smoke coming
out of the afterburner on the Blue Angels F-18 on my avatar for a long
time.
Does anyone know how to add that hint of brown to the smoke effect?
Thank you in advance,

Your homework assignment is:
Go to this link, save the link you will need it in the future. Get the SDK for special effects and aircraft container. Study very very carefully, make backups often of your files as you experiment.

Take your time, Rome wasnt built in a day and even after all this time Fs9 hasnt been played out yet. |

He could do that, and still not be able to do what he wants done.
And that smoke, is not from afterburners. That smoke IS smoke that the pilot can turn on and off. The real thing.
Otherwise, do as GS suggested. And if you need any help, just let us know.

Dear RD,
I know the pilot can turn the smoke on and off, but don't they drizzle oil into the engine to make all that smoke?
I believe the USAF Thunderbirds modified their F-16s to hold a drum of oil instead of ammunition.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Thank you.

P.S. I am using FSX on Vista and I can't make heads or tails of what I'm supposed to do to manually reconfigure the dll.xml for the SDK. So I guess that blows it. |

Dear SU37Berkut,
They do not drizzle oil into the engine, but an oil like compound is used and it is heated by high temperature bleed air from the engines to produce the smoke via a valved regulating system. |
