Ok all you FS pros... talk to me, My current system:
Intel P4 1.8GHz.
Tyan Trinity i845 S2090 motherboard (400MHz bus)
1 gig RAM (PC-133)
MSI G4Ti4600 graphics board (128 meg on board)
21" monitor
120 gig WD hard disk
Windows XP Professional
With that said I am thinking of trying to sqeeze out a bit more performance. Why you ask? Well, system runs great with just about everything maxed out on the sliders (getting 20fps on average), but the moment I use a highly detailed airport add-on (Like LAX or Dallas) thing go down to a CRAWL (5-7fps). Horrible! Goal is to try and get 13-15fps at major detailed airports.
So I guess I am asking your opinion. I am thinking of up grading the CPU to either a 2.2 or 2.4 gig (that's the max I can use with this board). The most cost effective would be to use the same motherboard but I got one opinion that my PC-133 ram is the bottleneck and using a faster CPU will not improve anything really on FS2002.
Of course if I switch to DDR that means a new motherboard a 533MHz CPU and at least 512MB Ram. I sure it would be faster but alot more expensive. Do you think I would see any significant improvements in my framerates if I just go with the CPU upgrade?
Any insight would be most helpful... |
