Hmmm... I'm not an expert, but maybe if you did a de-fragment and disk clean-up and hid your desktop icons and closed windows sidebar and got rid of the welcome center, et cetera...
It just might help.
Oh, maybe closing that fox fire thingy would help too.
And I'm not saying for sure, but it has been my experience that anything above NVidia G Force 7350 LE messes with the simulator. Just my experience, so don't go crazy with my post.
Hope you get this resolved soon.
Oh, by the way, here are my specs. FSX runs just fine for me with this rig. BUT, like skipperdan, I don't mind not having the scenery all the way up. In fact, sometimes I just turn it all off just so my plane performs better. So, that being said, you may not want to pay any attention to this.
Fokker DR1 usually runs his almost all the way up and says it works just fine for him, but he never flew a real plane so he doesn't really care that much about the performance of the PC.

| Alrighty then, the message was referring to "available memory".....that does not necessarily mean RAM in its' entirety. It also refers to "virtual memory" which involves your hard drive. How do you have the drive set up..(partitions, allocations etc.)? Do you have system restore turned on and how much space did you allocate for it or is it set to default and what amount of space is that?

Try setting your page file to 12GB. ---I know. That's a ridiculously high number. Just want to know if beefing up the page file helps.
Also, try adding a 2GB or larger flash drive as ReadyBoost.

Hey Viche, how do you set your page file higher?
I want to try it and see for myself.
Hmmm... this seems to be turning into a tweaking thread. This is not about the best super computer around. Maybe a moderator should move it?
Nah.... I think we'll leave it right where it is. Seems Optimal Configuration includes tweaking, to get the most out of your system/gaming experience. RD

Thanks Viche.
I haven't added any RAM, so I guess I can't do anything there.

I am officially dropping out of this subject. When this subject first started, I indicated that I was trained to diagnose the problem and the IBM salesmen were trained to throw more hardware at the problem. When this subject was first brought up, Groundsquirrel indicated that RAM was not the problem but that the problem needs to be diagnosed to determine the cause of the problem. I made quick stop to our Corporate PC Laboratory today to discuss the subject. When I told him that Captain EL added more RAM and still had the same problem, he laughed and asked why he chose to add more RAM instead of following our advice. I was unable to answer his question.
PS: This PC Technician is a very good friend of mine who is a user of FSX and really knows what he is talking about.
It appears that the hardware salesmen of this world are winning the battle.

Nononono. The default setting is to allow Windows to automatically adjust page file size, based on the amount of RAM you have. You can, of course, set this page file manually. I have mine set manually. It's set a little over the recommended value and on the faster hard drive for optimum performance.
