I can't decide if I want to get a new GPU or a new processor. Of course, it's one or the other. The GPU I'm looking at is the EVGA 7950GX2. This is a used GPU, and may be a contributing factor in my decision. Next, the processor I'm looking at is the Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600. I'm currently on a 7300GT and a 3.00GHZ Pentium 4 w/ HT.
I experience a little mouse lag in one of my games, and I don't know whether upgrading to a new CPU or GPU will solve that. I don't know which is more important...
Here's some extra information on the USED GPU I'm buying. This is my first time buying a used computer part...
"I'm interested in a used video card someone's currently selling. It's a 7950GX2, and as you should know, it's a card that has two GPU's in one card. I asked about its use, and if it's ever been O/C'ed before, volt-modded, and the like. He claims that the highest temperature the back GPU has reached was 88C (is that a dangerous level? I've never had my cards reach that temp). He says he overclocked once to 567/702, for one benchmark, and leaves the card at 55/675 for normal use. The stock speeds are 550/600.
The guy leaves his computer on 24/7. He owned the card for three months, with it running like that, and dusted it every month, at a consistent room temperature of 70F.
Is this a safe buy?"
It all boils down to, "Which will be of more benefit?"

On the used GPU, being put through a benchmark, and 88*C, I might want to shy away from that one. That card sounds liked it has been cooked and baked a couple times, if not more.
As for choices, I would recommend that you get a new/faster processor. Nothing beats speed.
Will it correct your problem?? Hard to say. It could be the settings of the game it's self, that may need some tweaking. Since I am not there, I can only guess.
I agree with RD, it may not be a hardware issue at all. You didnt mention what game and what version it was that had the problem. If all else is good, troubleshoot the problem. I use the P4-3ghz myself on an Intel D865GLC mobo. Processor alone may not help. Also, what mouse are you using? I use the Logitech trackball with great success.
