Hey guys. Before I go I wanted to start this one just for recognizing our veterans. I understand not all of us here our from the same countries, but let's give our hats off to them. It can be anybody you know, or don't know. They can be pilots or not. List as many as you want. I hope this one will be made a sticky.

Ok,

My Instructor- he isnt really a veteran, but he overcame a £60,000 debt in flight training,

Mr Bob Farrow- a retired officer in the RAF- a civilian instructor in the ATC,

Flt. Lt. Roger Arnott- my Commanding Officer- he is a great man

Fg. Off. Buckley- the adjutant at my sqn- she learnt to fly at 58!

Mr. Strickland (retired VRT Officer), the D of E man

Chris Crump (was a flt sgt when i was a cadet)


Abbreviations

RAF= Royal Air Force

ATC= Air Training Corps (the RAF cadet section)

Flt Lt= Flight Lieutenant (pronounced left- tennant) Rank in the RAF, it is equivalent to NATO (north atlantic treaty organisation) rank coding OF- 3 see link- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flt_Lt

Fg Off= Flying Officer- a rank in the RAF- NATO coding of OF- 2- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flying_Officer

VRT= Voluntary reserve training. Bacically, the RAF officer ran structure is divided into 6 parts. the junior officers: pilot officer to flight lieutenant, senior officers: squadron leader to group captain and air officers, air commodore to marshall of the royal air force. the VRT officers can be up to the rank of wing commander (above squadron leader but below group captain). you have the reguar officers, the voluntary reserve officers (VR) and the voluntary reserve training branch of officers: VR[T].- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAF_officer_ranks

D of E= Duke of Edinburgh award scheme- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D_of_E

Flt. Sgt= Flight Sergeant- a senior NCO (non comissioned officer) rank- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flt_Sgt
