Nice aircraft, paint job and teaser shots RD. Any more details? (I know, I know..wait for the video right? )
A group of three air carriers was stationed over L.A. in the days and weeks after the failed 'California Underground Revolution ' of 3025. The remains of the larger, stronger gangs had retreated either back to their beloved 'underground', or hiked and drove what few military vehicles they had salvaged back to their reinforced bunkers in the rougher hillsides and caves of the more remote areas. Battered, divided and beaten back, they would take months to regroup one tenth of their previous strength (it was quite an inner city war, an abandoned Los Angeles ravaged by 5 weeks of ground and air warfare, with the Military often surprised at the level of technology possessed by the 'Warbangers" as they have been called.) Particularly surprising, and menacing was the Warbanger's possession of and proficiency with a small fleet of Off-World fighter aircraft - 9 *CENSORED* fighters, two of which never worked properly and remained grounded...and seven that saw combat. None of the active *CENSORED* fighters survived the war, but the two originally disabled aircraft were restored and are currently being flight tested by numerous private parties.
DAY 3 : Post War. I was out on Combat Air Patrol as usual, flying an older Maelstrom. No complaints here, they were very well built, and last forever if you keep up with the engine-swaps, but the later models were a heck of a lot more comfortable. I'm not off the deck of the USS Steve Hinson 40 seconds when two of these *CENSORED* fighters come screaming up at me from somewhere down in the bowels of the cityscape, probably the only place the Maelstrom's scanners would have had trouble discerning their distinct exhaust signatures. My heart still speeds up when I recall the moment I realized two enemy fighters were right on my tail...I hate to admit it to this day but I was feeling cocky and confident that day in my jet, and I might have paid a little (lot) more attention to my scanner data and possibly detected them sooner somehow ....it's hard to grind through the hindsight after the event. This one scared me like you hope never to be scared, caught unawares and in immediate danger of evaporation within a split second. By the time I could even yank the joystick and fire off a flare the buggers had locked and let loose! Mercifully, somehow, I kept my cool (or was I just blind-stupid-lucky!?) and without thinking tapped the air brakes, halving the already short distance between the missiles and my hot exhaust...just enough to avoid a continued lock - they sailed right by, followed by my two aggressors.
These *CENSORED* fighters are fast in space, but are not as quick or agile sub-stratosphere. The Maelstrom tops out over twice as fast as the *CENSORED*'s lower-altitude mach 2. So off I go, in the other direction, having bought a few seconds to engage the Maelstrom's stealth defenses and easily lock on to these two clowns. Both *CENSORED*'s were handily dispatched by the Maelstroms 'Thick Skin Piercers', a formidable smart missile. It was still wayyy too close for comfort.
Pictured is me getting caught completely off-guard, and almost losing my life for it. But I'll bet the look on my face was priceless.
Oh, if only I had some decent equipment, I guarantee you would see some way different stuff. My goal in FS video would be to give you goosebumps, and I have about 5 videos in my head, all very do-able one way or another - all with music picked out. BUT...
I have a Pentium three with a half gig of SD RAM, and even with a Radeon 9250 PRo 256 [a better card would be wasted here] I can't take fluid video. FRAPS causes a freeze-up when I hit 'STOP' recording, and even with other video apps, the rate hit on my already pathetic frames is awful.
I'm screenshot guy for a while.
Glad you enjoyed my little story with pictures though.

Ooopss....
I haven't seen the 3025 pics, and the *CENSORED* Fighters, untill now. Well done Hark. Obviously, you've been playing with gmax and making some world torn buildings. They look great.
Now if you could only make them so they work with EZ Scenery.
Hey RD, thanks bud...and I have tutorials on how to do the conversion into 'object placer' type files, just haven't gone there yet. It's on the 'to do' list for sure.
