So I got Acceleration for Christmas, and when I went to install it, i got a message telling me that I didnt have the English version of FSX installed. After clicking "ok" or something along those lines to close the notification, I got a message saying that my computer was unchanged and Installation had to be aborted or something like that. Anybody else have this problem? What should I do???

My FSX has the 2nd service pack installed, and I have updated everything. I am at a standstill!

Have you got SP 1 installed? Also if you have the Acceleration pack you do not need to install SP2 as this is already within the Accelearation CD.

Have you registered FSX? Other than that can't think what else unless you re-install FSX.

Noddy's right.

If you already installed SP2, then you need to uninstall it. There is a conflict between the SP2, and the Accelleration pack.

Worse case scenario, is a complete uninstall of FSX, then defrag, then a shutdown. Then make TRIPLE sure everything is gone. Then reinstall FSX, and SP1. Then install the accellartion package. Then do another defrag, and reboot.

This should take care of your problems.

Well, I have SP2, but I installed that AFTER i tried to install acceleration. After I saw that it didnt work, i tried SP2, and it still didnt work.

So i guess the only solution is an uninstall of FSX. Just curious, but can I back up all of my addons on an external hard drive or something when I uninstall, then reinstall and put them back in without losing them? I dont want to lose my downloads.

Yes not a problem, that is what I did for my new PC.

If you have installed any new skins to you planes make sure you save those. I actually copied the Simobject, effect and gauges folders to be sure.

It will be exactly the same for the scenery folder as well.

Unless anybody else has any thoughts?

Can't be certain if it reacts the same way as FS9, if you do a de-install, fs9 only removes the files it recognises, all extras in all folders are left alone........... But do a back up just in case.

And here you thought we were here, because we like you.....

LOL, glad you got it working and going again.

If not done correctly, your going to end up with problems. And why there is a conflict between SP2 and the Acceleration pack, beats me.

The least they could do, is let the buyer beware.

one more question about that-

I installed SP1, I Installed Acceleration, is there any worry at all about SP2 now? Is it included with Accleleration?
