You are not IFR if you hear the "you're leaving my airspace.." announcement.
Select Flight Planner - Choose Direct-GPS
Select IFR
Then select cities....click Find Route
Press OK
and you're done..
Once in cockpit...tune tower..ask for IFR clearance and you'll start getting headings.
I had tried to guide you to this tutorial itself...just follow rhythmo's steps word-by word...you'll get to see Greece in one piece!
IFR instructions will tune you properly to the corect stations...the only buttons you toggle with thruout ur flight are - HDG & ALT and IAS (if you wanna play with ur speed). This is considering you are on Auto-Pilot mode with Auto-Throttle on...or else you go thru the routine of setting speed, altitude, heading etc...more fun that way!
Keeping it really simple, for runway approach, simple way to do is establish altitude and heading as directed by tower, and once you can see the runway lights at a distance, you are straight and lever - hit APPR (approach). Now your tower will take over landing...it will guide your aircraft straight on to the runway and even establish your descent... Of course, you gotta alighn a bit urself, turn off AP and AT just before touchdown and flare!
This only happens at Airports with ILS landing facility...so ensure its not an outback airstrip!
Hope that helps!! |

The ATR A/P is a bit different to other ones. There is no Autothrottle on the ATR and when you wish to make altitude changes you have to dial in the vertical speed setting first.
Before I switched to FS2004, the ATR was my favourite aircraft to fly in FS2002 (I have the Eurowings Commuter Airliners add-on). and once I got used to it I really enjoyed flying it. You will find the Autopilot on the glareshield. |

There are good models of both the 200 and the 500 on ARNZ site, lousy panel, but good models!!! and lors of repaints. As for the panel you should go to fsfreeware and find a PHOTOREALISTIC ATR PANEL, they don't have a search engine, or I'm a super fool, but somewhere around page 20 I think.
This is besides topic, and as I have heard rumors that moderators do and excelent job keepin it straight I am just saying... |

| I have tried to do ILS landings but whenever i press the APR button to align the plane with the runway, it goes beserk. It tryes to stay on course but always oversteers when trying to correct its heading. And by the time the airplane is on the ground, it is like 50ft. away from the runway and off track. Not by a lot but by enough to embarras you. HELP!!!!! |

Hi, I'm quite a Newbie to FS2004 and I probably got a stupid qustion. I tried ILS landing at Iraklion as describend in the tutorial above. Had IFR flighplan etc.
But when ATC 'offers' me an approach and I want to select a different one there is no ILS in the menu. Only VOR and VOR/DME. Whats wrong? How do I get ILS approach?
Thanks guys |

Make sure that the airport that you wish to land at has ILS on the runway that you wish to use. They may have it on only one runway or none at all.
To check the ILS availability, frequency and heading click on the map icon on the panel. Find your airport, zoom-in and double click on the airport. This will bring up a list of all radio frequencies for that airport. Scroll down near the bottom where the runways are listed and you'll see the ILS info for each runway. If none is listed for a particular runway, no ILS approach is available for that runway.
Another way to find this info is using the GPS. If you have filed an IFR flight plan, hit the <PROC> button and scroll down to the <Select Approach> option. You will then see a list of available approaches. Again, if no ILS approach is listed, none is available.
If no IFR flight plan, hit <NRST> button on the GPS and find your airport and access the airport info that way.
I hope this helps. |

all you have to do to get a perfect landing is get the rwy heading and put it in the course box and also get the rwy frequency and put that in your NAV1 radio. then when your about 15Nm from the rwy, press APR and it will guide you there. Turn off autopilot just before you land so you can pull up and get a nice soft landing |

You can get the ILS frequency from the GPS or the Map.
The Learning Center includes all of that info. |
