| Would you attend online school for flight sim add-on design? |
| Yes, but only if FREE - I don't pay for nothing! (note: most likely will NOT be free) |

Would you attend a series of classes online for add-on design? Please vote and then post your answers to the following:
1) Would you attend for Scenery design?
2) Would you attend for Aircraft design?
3) Would you attend for Panel design?
4) Would you attend the online classes if they required a charge or 5-10 dollars? If not, what would you pay to attend? (NOTE: these would be by highly qualified designers)
5) Would you attend the pay classes if someone registered would win a great design software package?
6) Would you attend classes for flight instruction from a flight instructor? Free? $5.00?
7) Would you attend painting classes?
What types of classes would you like to attend?
These classes are being considered now. I am currently looking into holding them via software that I am on the development team for. This allows file transfers, live chat, voice chat, meetings, online blackboards, news, etc... I would be able to obtain the software at a huge discount for the people that attend the classes. (note, I make nothing from them...I just love the software)
Also, I would be getting people that are masters of design in their fields to hold the classes. Their would be teaching materials, homework, questions & answer sessions, help files, and more.. The classes would be a couple hours long each and one class may cover 3 or 4 days. There would be anywhere from 1 class a week to 5 classes a week depending on the schedule of the teacher.
I would like to get an idea on how many people would possibly attend these classes. They will range from FREE to $25.00 per course.
These would be sponsored by SpectroGrafx Productions, Inc. (SGPI) and of course, Surclaro.
If you would be interested in taking a class, please email: classes@sgpi.net Also email if you are a designer and would be interested in teaching a class. If for teaching, please list the type of course, and list some of the files you have designed (file names on Surclaro please.) We will keep everyones info and notify you as soon as a class you are interested in is available.

My answer is a resounding yes to all points. I would be especially interested in model design, but would like to be able to do scenery also. I believe I have a decent handle on painting, getting better all the time. Panels are really no mystery but some instruction would be helpful to be able to do them as easily as others using the actual sdk formatting. As well as being able to do the gauge bitmaps and creating xml files. Actually, I cant think of any aspect of FlightSimulator that I wouldnt want to learn. So, bring it on.
But these are just a squirrels' desires. |

I would be very much interested in learning more of the techiques of flying aircraft more than other aspects at this time. I became involved in this last fall, and realized that I was not following a set procedure, so if they were videos or even someone to chat online to get tips, would help a lot.
Thanks again. |

yes to all..including online flight instructing.
I would feel obligated to pay for the classes cause they would take time from the designers...but in honesty, I would pay 5-10 bucks (even though I know I really should pay more...I'm just being honest with what I would pay).
If these classes do happen, I would want them to not happen all at once so I could take them all.
Price of the software will be a consideration also.
Bottom line though....online classes would fully rawk!!! |

We will be working on getting some LIVE flight instruction here. I can offer some, but as my CFII ratings have laxed over the years (I fly now mostly for MY own enjoyment but have considered renewing my ratings and teaching again) you would be getting SIM instruction, not real world (had to say all that for legal reasons..)
Also, yellowbird, there is a part of flight sim that is flight instruction. Done by a real flight instructor with full lessons, pass/fail/repeat, etc.. They are fantastic and I took them all myself. I did every lesson, took all the tests. And I can tell you, there were sections of various lessons that I failed the first time and had to redo. After so many years of real flying, you forget some of the basics...so I would HIGHLY recommend them to EVERYONE on here. Also, if you have a few bucks, get some of the videos that are made by the Kings. They are just plain FANTASTIC!!!!!!! I have met them and they are GREAT people that are just incredible teachers. They LOVE flying and more than that, they LOVE to teach flight. USE them...they are so worth it.

SpectroPro;
Thanks for your input. I feel, that along with flying instructions, video instructions would make things much more clearly. And, also, individual tips from experienced pilots would be much more valuable.
No????
P.S. I am not a real life pilot, but I have flown in a few aircrafts during my army tour in the Congo, a few years back. |

I know this is an insane request, so I'll pose it as a question.
What would it take programming wise to make some of the higher level instruments function in the SIM world?
What do I mean by that? Some of these airplanes have high dollar flight management systems in them that do more than just what the GPS-500 can do. (Spectra, this would be the blue area at the top of the panel showing the throttle quadrant and radio stack in the Falcon 7X). I know it would be a huge undertaking to program, but in todays world, systems make the planes. And if you are a realist, you are not flying above 29K with a non-certified RVSM aircraft and you are trying to find an EGPWS or TAWS system that will fit your bird too. |
