Hey,
I've recently re-installed FSX on my computer after somehow messing up the Service packs.
I've now sucessfully got it working perfectly again with SP 1, but now. I've hit another problem, now.. whenever I use my joystick to control the ailerons but it also turns the front wheel.
I've tried to edit the controls assignments and it says that the rudder axis is assigned to the Z Rotation, but.. It still doesn't work.
Can anyone help? |

what kind of joystick are you using?? and have you tried to "troubleshoot" your joystick? (or have you calibrated your joystick lately)
Generally, your rudder controls are on the Z axis (twist) on your joystick - Except when you are on the ground... the Z axis will then control the steering. you might be able to "lean" your joystick left and right to control Ailerons (left and right turn whie in air) to control turns on the ground... I have done that before, although this maneuver is 100% incorrect (it may work it may not -- but this is not your problem)
RD: any ideas? |

In FS2004 you only have to go in "realism settings" and turn off the "autorudder".
I donk know if its the same thing in FSX... |

I'm using the Microsoft Sidewinder Forcefeed 2 joystick, slightly old. But, it hasn't given up on me yet.
"you might be able to "lean" your joystick left and right to control Ailerons (left and right turn whie in air) to control turns on the ground" that's what is happening, I don't want it to & I can't get it to stop for some reason.
The joystick is set to the Z Rotation & it does move the rudder & front wheel. But, it doesn't give much.
It's only started doing this since I re-installed last night |

I think this might be the answer. With the auto-rudder turned on it will deflect the rudder to allow a coordinated turn, on the ground this rudder deflection will also turn the nose wheel.
But if you are turning with the ailerons, that is best left for the rudder. |

I've got it working perfectly now.
I tried Biggan's solution for what would fix the problem on FS9 and found it also worked on FSX.
Thanks<3 |
