well, spinsincircles (and everyone else who wants to know),

you must be of the minimal age of 15 to start learning (ie: groundschool, your written and oral tests, and actual flight training) then you must be of a minimal age of 16 to take your first solo flight, and for those who want to get their Private Pilot license, you must be at a minimal age of 17 to get your Private Pilot Checkride.

For those who need to know the cost (which i will assume will be all of ya lol), you can get a self study course like (like i did), study for your written and oral tests. this will cost...get this...an astionishing..........aproximate $200!!! i highly reccomend that you get the sporty's Private Pilot course. i have this course, and let me tell you, it is worth the money! The kit includes:

1) A binder
2) two pamphlets on choosing a Flight instructor, and Flight School
3) A Pilot's Guide to Airport Signs and Markings
4) A Pilot's Flight Log and Record (this is the best part of it)
5) A Table of Contents (loose leaf)
6) a Graduation Certificate (sorry, only the instructor can sign this... the faa will find out if you did it.)
7) seven Training DVD's
Cool A Training Course Outline Book
9) And last but not least, A PTS Study Guide

thats alot of stuff aint it? all of that for just $200 (which includes S&H)

Then there is the cost of flight training. This will cost you around $5000 or more (but not by much).

I hope that you guys like the info i gave ya, and hope you earn your wings soon!
oh yeah!!! also, if you want to get your pilots license for free, get into the army

"yeah the reason im not doing air force or military is....weird. I don't believe in using guns. i'll never shoot one. ever. just i think it has to be done. saddam had to be taken out of power. taliban got out of control. but then again, i just dont want to die. life is precious, enjoy it by being a pilot! as for the people who are in the military, i applaud them and they are really heroes!"

yes you are right, MHSIC, life is precious, but you know what? not all of our soldiers are in iraq. plus, when you are a pilot in the army (fixedwing at least), you dont really spend time shooting people. believe me, my dad is in iraq right now, and though he is getting shot at (at some point during the week), he spends most of his time at Flight Level 35 (or, (since you may not know) 35,000 feet in the air. Also, would you rather fly a Cessna 150, at 5,000 feet, with a price of $50 to $200, or would you rather fly a Cessna Citation 500 or 550 (which is what my dad flies) for free? i would take the military.

"as for the people who are in the military, applaud them and they are really heroes!"
Thanks for this comment. it makes me feel good that someone other than me is thanking not only my dad, but all of the other soldiers in iraq.

well i hope the info i gave you is good for ya
