Yup, you go right on ahead and group stuff in gmax all you want. Then when you need to ungroup the parts to do a bit more work, go right ahead. Then see what happens when you EXPORT the model. Playing around in gmax is a riot. The lunchbag letdown occurs when you try to export a model, with all your hard-earned animations rendered useless due to scaling errors, or the 'grouping' bug, or you didn't link your animated parts just so, or you misnamed something that had to be a derivitive of L_Gear_XXX, or you used the 'mirror' tool rather than the mirror 'modifier'.
Trust me...I may, due to my newbness, occasionally get the facts or details wrong on gmax flightsim development...but some of the pros I go to for help when I'm just about in tears with disappointment or frustration have actually gone as far as REMOVING the 'Group' and 'mirror' buttons from the gmax GUI. It's all fun and games until you need an error-free export bud, you'll see. Wink
