Is it possible to retrofit repaints from two similar aircraft that were made by two different groups. For example is it possible to use retrofit the repaint of 747-400 payware aircraft to the FSX default 747-400.

You will not be able to simply copy/paste the texture maps from one model to another whether it is payware or freeware. The textures are "mapped" to that specific model. If there is a texture that you like for a certain aircraft and it does not yet exist for your desired aircraft, then a "repaint" will have to be performed for your chosen aircraft model.
