I have installed a new GFX card. All my games run with the new card. But my FS is the only one not using it. It says it's using it but really it's not. I think this was mentioned before but i couldn't find the thread. Is there something i need to edit somewhere? |

I am a little confused by your first posting.
You tell us that Flight Simulator is telling you that it is not using your Graphics Card. How can you see the message from Flight Simulator if FS is not using your graphics card?
Can you be a little more specific about the actual error message that you are receiving. |

Dan,
I see where you are confused. I went to display, then hardware, it shows in the box, the graphics card that i just installed. But when im in the game, or in the aircraft selection window, the textures are very sloppy, blurry, crappy. It wasn't like that with my previous card, and it was worse than the one i have now. In other words, although i installed the card, FS9 doesn't notice that a card exists.
Which is strange because my other games do |

| I believe that Fs9 has no control over whether a g-card exists or not, if it shows up in your hardware settings, then it is most certainly there. For were it not, you could not see at all. Please confirm that you truly have the latest drivers for the card, then consult the "century of flight" home site to determine if Fs9 has issues with this card or not. Then consult the documentation for the g-card for troubleshooting tips. Then you will have to experiment with various settings for the card as well as Fs9. Finally, what the )***^%^% kind of card is it? |

Ground, and everyone else, he has the same card you are waiting for Ground... One of mine.
ATI Radeon 9200 SE 128meg DDR SDRAM.
He has stated that he is using the NEWEST drivers for the ATI Radeons which was released in March of this year.
His other games are using the card. So this is a fs9 issue. Odd, as when the card was installed in my old computer, (1.3 ghz 512megs memory p3) it worked like a dream. FS9 ran with almost 3/4 of the settings set at full or very close to full.
I am at a loss as I know the card worked perfectly when it left here. BTW pingponggame, what are the specs of the computer you are running it on? I never did ask you that.
Oh, and one thing to try: MOVE the card. Put it in another PCI slot. I had a problem with a few cards in various computers before. They would NOT work properly if at all in some slots, and yet, work great in others. Odd, but that is something that is apparently QUITE common.

| PCI slot issues are usually due to IRQ conflicts, at least that has been my experience. Other than that, sometimes the cold solder joints of the slot connection can sometimes fracture when installing/uninstalling, after all, many hundreds of components are made each day, and a few of 'em aint gonna be right. One last thought, did he hot swap the card? Maybe he should try powering down the computer as well as unplugging it physically for at least an hour to degauss the system. After that, I dunno, and I hope I dont have the same problems when I get mine. |
