Now that the WASPV is almost out the door I am able to turn my attention to a few straggler projects that need to be finished up, and a whack of new ideas that just have to come to life.
Stragglers worth releasing when wrapped up properly:
Got a couple of pretty cool Airracers mostly done. (Flying cars that rock. ) EDIT: These need some serious .CFG file rework...so they can land without the 'Piledriver' factor!!!
Got a Silver Surfer guy that needs a little (Lot) of .cfg file work. The novelty wears off pretty quick, but boy can you get some great screenies of the 'Surfer flying through cityscapes.
I'll probably kick the SkySkimmer (Zkimmer) out the door...it's a pretty handy zoom-zoom machine. Think I'll wait 'till the WASPV is out though, then push out the lesser add-on Zkimmer.
I think that's it for 'almost ready to go' stuff.
Now for some ideas that are in early development stages. Partial models built for some, lots of airy ideas to add...lots of concept development to go....what fun!
Race course for flying machines. Picture a raised Death Star trench on the surface of a city. Probably starting at a harbour and in through the city limits as well. Stands for the massive crowds, billboards over the recessed but open track. Figure 8 configuration to ensure the 'danger' factor. This will be an easy build if I can master specific, hardened surfaces in gmax. You'll love this if I can pull it off properly!
No modeling yet, just in my head.
A massive air carrier....a big ol' capitol ship with a recessed landing bay. Got a model done, just needs really sweet textures and a landable surface. (EDIT: ...And engines in the ass-end!)
Future city. Got all the initial building models done....around fifteen super-cool, futuristic, super-high skyscrapers and towers with landing pads everywhere....guaranteed cool factor if I can figure out the 'landable surface' thang for scenery. The future city would be complimented by the racetrack on the waterfront.
Still got the hankering for a flyable car that actually rides on retractable wheels, instead of an air cushion.
Wouldn't an air bike be neat? Remember 'Jet-Moto' for the Playstation? EDIT:...And of course, the 'speeder bikes' from Star Wars.
Would eventually like to look into an air-cave...picture the Lukla-style airport but at a higher elevation and the runway and facilities would be in a deep cave. Not hard to do, just texture matching to the surrounding terrain.
I have an idea for a large, twin fuselage, future VTOL airliner...something massive to carry 1700 passengers or so. If the engines can handle VTOL for these big suckers, it's the way to go, as they get bigger they need to land effectively , safely and efficiently. Not every large airport is willing to extend or build new runways to handle these futuristic monsters!
All I have to do now is get my stuff together (I'm such a barely-organized scatterbrain hack!) and set my gmax up to export scenery and aircraft both, right now I can only kick out aircraft .mdl files. (D'oh!)
I'm saving for a decent PC...that way I can start developing for FSX as well as FS9, concurrently.
Lots of work to do on my part to continue development fun in any reasonable manner...but it seems to be what I do for fun lately...and it keeps my brain from turning to mush trying to find entertainment on the tube. (Or in the bars!)
I like to yap on here, among some friends and colleages, so you can be sure that I'll keep you updated with all manner of long-winded drivel in the future, as all this crap comes together! Happy simming.
EDIT: I also would love to do a rustic old balloon-style craft like on that fairly new 'Jules Verne' style sci-fi show on T.V. Like a big wooden boat hull with a balloon for lift, and big rotating propellors for directional thrust. All weathered and rusty. Slow and cumbersome, but really well done, with lots of detail, and ropes, and rust, and a guy at the wheel like on the old tall ships! Maybe some big, clunky extendable landing gear for land, but able to set down in the water like a boat. This is the one that I'll work on bit by bit, and maybe eventually come up with something really unique, but very romantic, rustic and functional.
Oh yeah, I'm full of ideas....just have to get the ball rolling for the eventual realization of all this good stuff!
