Hiya, just wanted to post something regarding all the blathering I do around this section as I struggle through W.I.P. threads.
Please don't ever assume something can't be done because I've posted something about 'great difficulties with pivot points' or whatever the specific problem of the day might be. I have noticed my tendency to occasionally assume that something can't be done, or is terribly difficult...just because I had trouble with it.
Pivot points in gmax is a perfect example. I have had endless aggravation trying to get parts to rotate on their own axis after tilting them or canting them somewhat. They always insist on rotating on the original axis, no matter how I've tilted the part. Makes life hard when animating some things!
Thing is...I think there is a 'local' and a 'global' setting available somewhere in gmax for this to work the way you need it to. There is a lot of little things in a program like gmax that you just have to pick up a bit at a time, even some of the obvious stuff.
Anyway...please take my ramblings with a grain of salt when it comes to gmax specifics, etc., I think these W.I.P. threads of mine need to be viewed as somewhat entertaining...and very occasionally a little informative. Just wanted to clear that up....I re-read these threads sometimes to see how they stand up...and sometimes I go "That's not right, what was I saying?!"
Man, there's a fair bit of learning in order to do this stuff right....hats off to those folks that produce the goodies the proper way...and then with virtual cockpits and good panels and real flight dynamics...holy moly!
EDIT: Speaking of which, flying around in Steve Hinson's Tomcat lately has been a joy. What a superb looking and handling machine...and it ROARS! Thank God for subwoofers, eh! (And solid developers. )

Your beating yourself up just a little too much there, bud.
The WASPV is a perfect example, as for animation and movement of parts. And then have them move as they should. That is something I could never, EVER, do.
To be honest, anybody can create the movements/animation of the standard a/c. landing gear. But to move legs, as you have done......PRICELESS.
Not seen the W.A.S.P.V. yet in all it's glory, but I have followed it since it's birth on here, and have to agree with RD, what you have achived, is something unique, that very few people are capable of doing, my hat goes off to you Hark.
Most would have given up, but you stuck with it through thick & thin....... Well done buddy.
Wow, kind words guys, thank you for the support! (Could never have abandoned the W.A.S.P.V., too much work went in! )
...Just wanted to make sure folks knew that for all the problems I have at times, many folks use a more diligent and methodical approach to aircraft development in gmax and have an easier, more straightforward time of it.
It simply takes some time...it's really a progressive thing once you're bitten by the bug. (no pun intended. )
