I just started working through the lessons in FS2002 Pro. I'm using an Athlon XP 2100+ based machine running WinXP Pro.
I get to lesson 2, on turns. I watch the virtual instructor do his thing, and then am told to turn right at a 20-degree bank. I do so and turn around in the sky for awhile. Then, without telling me to come out of the turn, I am told to turn right at a 10-degree bank. Again, I do so, and...nothing. I can keep turning for at least ten minutes, going around in a circle over and over, and never get a single further instruction from the program, eventually having to ESC out of the flight.
I have run this twice with the same results, so I know it wasn't just a random fluke.
I've had the same thing. Yuo sit there, flying in circles and nothing happens. I think I solved this, but damned if I can remember what I did!
There might be something in the readme files in FS main. But I think it has to do with hitting ctl + something which continues the lesson. I'll try to find out and get back to you.
In the meantime, PM me if you want to keep in touch. Another guy I met here and I have been helping each other out, learning a lot of this stuff. We do th msn messenger thing, and we fly on line together. We have learned a lot from each other, like learning how to do ILS, NDB's, VOR's, installing sceneries, trading sceneries, figuring out those damned aircraft panels, and sounds, etc.
We trade sceneries so we have the smae ones, then we fly there, buzz each other, watch and help each other's landings, etc. Let me know if you are interested. Invite others as well if they are interested too. Bob
This question is not really concerned with your flight lesson problem (it's happened to me to though too- another fine trait of Microsoft software - full of holes and bugs)
When I come out of, say 35 000 ft on ATC's instructions to eventually, say 2600 ft, I never once enter a holding pattern on my approach to land. I am directed to the ILS localizer and land from there, but never proceed down the 1000 ft. increment holding pattern and neither do the AI aircraft on approach.
I'm not running the Professional Edition - does this explain it, or does the same thing happen in P.E. ??
That is wierd! it doesn't have anything to do with your OS I don't think. Sometimes I am sent off into lala land somewhere for the longest time. I think I've been forgotten. Finally though I get called to make certain turns again. Sometimes this has to do with how much AI traffic you have loaded.
it has happened on the ground too. I'm waiting at the runway for some yo-yo AI plane to take its sweet-ass time to waddle down the taxiway to take off on a cross runway! Or... I get called to hold my taxi while another plane waddles on in front of me. He turns and goes away, and I just sit there twiddling my props! I mean... the guy is long gone and I sit there. Sometimes I just go ahead and no one seems to say anything. I guess the game gets stuck in a loop or something.
I'd say just to go do your thing until you get scolded by the tower! Bob
