Guys, I have moved this problem out of the Hinson Memorial topic, it's taking up to much to stay in there.........
As you are aware, I have been seeing permanant snow at Baltimore (KBWI). With GS's help, the problem has been narrowed down to a problem within the Addon Scenery Folder, upon further investigation, it now appears to be inside the Addon Scenery/Scenery folder.
As soon as this is re-introduced into the Addon Folder, the snow returns, remove it, and the snow is gone.
Now, my problem is: inside the scenery folder, there is 399 files....... How the hell do I determin which file is causing the problem, other than removing all of them, and re-introducing them one at a time.... 399 is going to take forever.
For now, I have re-named the folder Scenery.back this has prompted fs9 to write a new scenery folder, which only contains the EZ Scenery files, 5 readme files, and 5 BGL files.... at this point, I am seeing green grass again at KBWI.
I don't need to tell you how long it would take to re-introduce all the other files one by one, and to start fs9 each time.
Does anyone know of a more simple solution ?
Mel.

| If there is a way to make a list of the file names, I will review it and give my opinion on possible suspects. Another method to would be to carve the list up into smaller groups and distribute them out to the guys so we can try them out and find the culprit.

First idea sounds ok GS, but it would be better if I could convert all the filenames into an XLS file, or something similar, problem is I don't know of any way that can be done, if I just copy all the BGL files, that alone amounts to 58mb. (huge file).
Second idea could be just as tricky, and as Chris has pointed out, this could also be a problem.

OK......... We are making progress.....
I am going to supply as much info on this as I can.
By a process of illimination, I think I have found the culprit, there are a group of 6 bgl's which relate to nothing I know..... but that could be down to an auto addon install........ they are:
090_45.bgl
090_675.bgl
120_45.bgl
120_675.bgl
150_45.bgl
150_675.bgl
(See Pic)
By adding them all, other than 090_45 everything is fine, as soon as I introduce 090_45 I get permanant snow at (KBWI) Baltimore.
Without 090_45, I can change seasons at KBWI and everything displays as it should.
All the other 398 bgl's are now back in my Addon Scenery/Scenery Folder, and everything is working fine.
So, my next question is: Can anyone point me in the right direction to a prog which will read this BGL, or can anyone read it for me, and let me know what it does.
I will have to email it, as the bgl extn is not allowed on here.
Thanks
Mel.

| I believe there are .BGL 'disassemblers' available for download at the Scenery Hall Of Fame. Not sure what info will be displayed if this endeavor is successful, and I don't have a link or any pointers yet. If you have no joy in the next while I'll make sure to hook you up as soon as I get some free time this evening.

Mel, have a look over at the SHOF....'Design Utilities', page 'A', 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th files down. The files are listed alphabetically so I didn't have to go far to find 'BGL analyze', etc. I've never used them so best of luck to you.

| Hmmm, I wonder about that 'BGLXML' program. If you convert the .BGL to an .XML file they are pretty readable. Just lists and parameters basically...very syntax-sensitive but you don't necessarily want to change anything right? Maybe locations and I.D.'s listed by name, etc. in the .XML text will give you decent clues as to just what files these .BGL's are, or where they live. Just don't be afraid to go into an .XML file to have a look around, it's not really a whack of unreadable code or anything. Right-click on an .XML file and 'Open with Notepad' and it shows the file in more of a 'list' format than just opening the .XML with a double-click. Possibilities?

Thank for the info Hark, I might just do that....... I have not found any detrimental effects of not having this bgl in fs9, so for now, I might just leave it out........ but will certainly check it out further, and delve a little deeper inside it.
Thanks for you help buddy, much appreciated.
