| RD! I'm not on my own PC, and my PC doesn't have the 'net right now...but Mel's shot is great. Freakin' gorgeous work, you've got photo-real quality now and some sweet clarity to the layers of heat and flame. Yup, you've outdone yourself I think. That's hot.

The payware boys should be calling you RD, this is absolutely the most realistic afterburner effect in the entire flight simulation world.
|
Funny you should say that comrade. I just got the below email today:
| Quote: | Hi there,
We are considering the production of an English Electric Lightning and would like to know if you would contribute an afterburner.
If so, I'd need to know what sort of money you'd require for the work and files.
We have worked with Rob B. before and I think (well I hope so!) he will vouch for our integrity.
Please let me know if you'd be interested in the project.
Thanks,
Bary Bromley (Baz)

I've never heard of Aeroplane Heaven, so I did a google search. And I must say, for payware stuff, it does look pretty nice. I've included the homepage link, and the link to the Corsair, that looks really, really nice.
And yes, I did reply back.

Have to say RD, I have heard of AH in the past, and I do know of someone that has one of their creations, and it's really nice, they are well established and cosher........ any contribution to their projects I would consider a feather worthy of your hat.
Their freeware stuff is better than most.
Mel.

From their FAQ page....
"Is it true that people working for Aeroplane Heaven get locked in a dungeon with beer and pizza until the planes are finished?
Yes. Our beer of choice is a true Aussie original - a 'knock your socks off' homebrew made by our illustrious leader.."
It all becomes clear now....
Seriously RD... congratulations bud, that is very cool!

I can vouch for the quality of AH's stuff. They have a similar dedication to attention to detail. What I like most is their efforts to reduce graphics loading issues that allow one to really enjoy actually flying their wares as opposed to ending up with a few pretty screenshots. Go for it RD, their stuff just ain't gonna be complete without RD-burners!
pilot 1: "man, this guy is fast!"
pilot 2: "I'm goin' RD on this dude, he ain't gettin' away from me!"

I got a couple of their freeware planes, and I must say, I agree with you Mel. The F9F Panther is really outstanding. As GS pointed out, the frame hit was very little, if any at all. Details were done very well.
@ GS... is going "RD" on someone mean going "Thermonuclear" or "Full on Afterburner"??? Either of course, would fit the bill.
