If you are getting the below message in red, when trying to edit the aircraft .cfg file, then read on.

Cannot create the C\Program files\microsoftflight simulator x\simobject\airplanes\B737_800\aircraft.cfg file

Make sure that the path and file name are correct

You have to be able to turn off the UAC (User Account Control). This is used only by VISTA, and is what you see when you want to view something, change something. It asks you if you are sure you want to do this. More info below.

http://www.petri.co.il/what's_uac_in_windows_vista.htm

In order to turn it off, you must have Administrator rights/access. Check the link below for more information on turning it off.

http://www.petri.co.il/disable_uac_in_windows_vista.htm

Turning it off will not harm anything, but may give you time to regrow some hair, and/or, save your sanity.

I've had the same problem. Try copying the the contents of the file to a new word-pad or notepad from your computer and than editing it.
