Mel, you can tell if it is a pusher/puller by putting a piece of paper in the middle of the fan motor, and sliding it off towards the fan blades.
A 1cm by 5cm piece will work fine.

In terms of computer heatsinks, almost all standard style heatsinks have the fan blow into the heatsink.
The Noctua one you have is in a push-pull configuration. If it was only one fan, the fan would be blowing into it.

Ah fine.
Anyhow, a good way to see which way the fan blows is by looking at the blade curvature.
As you can see in this picture, the blades are curved so that it can pull air more effectively.
And, as you can see in that picture, the blades are curved so that it can push air just as effectively. If a fan pulls 100cfm, guess what??? It is also pushing 100cfm. As well, the curvature has no relation as to direction, only the efficiency of how much air it moves. Freaking physics 101. RD

I am well aware of propwash direction, ie: pushing or pulling......... my problem is that the fan has been removed a number of times, for cleaning purposes, and can be put back on the heatsink both ways round, (you will see when I post the pics how easy it is to reverse) now for the life of me, I cant remember which way it was in the begining................. Bit like marrage really, what was it like all those years ago !
