How does this differ from running ENDITALL which is the same as closing all programs and processes. |
"skipperdan."
I have not heard of ENDITALL but have tryed two programs that offer the same functions as running WINxp in "Selective startup". Downloaded them but found that to much was left to you to decided what to deactived. The result was that on reboot I had many problems with applications not restarting again.
Contacted Microsoft and they refered me to this article of theirs. It does close all unneeded programmes, if thats the same as ENDITALL does, but have not had any problems on rebooting in "Normal Start".
But having said this and running all my slides to the right I notice that on the ground I get below 20 fps and in the air less than 40 fps. is this the norm?
My plane consists of an asus a7n8x-e deluxe motherboard - amd athlon 2.6 ghz cpu - 1.5 gbs ram - 80 gbs x 7200 rpm hdd - Win XP pro - asus v9520 ser graphics 256 mb card - 17' samsung 763mb monitor. Would like to still improve on the fps. Any suggestions?

| Well, for one thing, when you are at an airport, you have more scenery for the PC to draw. Taxi signs, buildings, trees, etc. Whe you are in the air, there is less scenery to draw, and the textures are less detailed. That might account for your problem. |

Thanks, I'm aware of this fact but are my fps at an acceptable rate given my hardware setup and the fact that I run the fps slide at 100% in MSFS at the diff situations?

Here is a quick paragraph defining ENDITALL.
Install utilities often tell you to shut down all other tasks before running the install. There are also programs that demand so much computing power that any concurrently running tasks will adversely affect their performance. On today's powerful systems, you easily can have a dozen or more programs loaded at any given time. Shutting them down manually is tedious and time-consuming.
Just do a search for the word ENDITALL and you will find many places to download the software.
Here is just one that I found. JUST MAKE SURE THAT YOU DOWNLOAD A VERSION THAT IS COMPATIBLE WITH YOUR OPERATING SYSTEM.

| Yes, your frame rates are about what I would expect. My system is a pentium 4 at 3ghz with 1gig ram and an ATI96ooxt video card. All sliders maxed out except for the clouds for better visibility. I have the resized autogen, textures and clouds. My fps routinely run around 40 except for scenery dense areas, where they can sometimes dip as low as 20. At high altitudes they will often be 70 or better. |

Thanks to both of you,
I have found a site for EndItall2 and have downloaded it. I will check instructions and spec. later this morning. Thanks.
With the info given on fps, I feel alot happier with my setup and preformance given the extra scenary detail, planes and airports I have loaded for South Africa. As you can see from the screenshot - "Logo" - under "Bobdell". Johannesburg Intl. airport looks exactly as it should be and not as Microsoft depicted it. PS Considering upgrading cpu aswell.
Thanks again.
Am I right in setting my time in my members profile to GMT + 2 for South Africa?

Just checked out spec for EndItall2 but affraid it only goes up to Win 2000.
But not to worry still very happy with Microsoft program. Thanks anyway for your help. |

| I had Enditall with XP and it worked for me. You could always hit control+alt+delete and then close down the programs manually. I tend to do that a good bit. Of course, you always run the risk of shutting down the PC if you close the wrong process. |

If you are serious about using ENDITALL, send me a personal message (including your email address) and I will send you a version of ENDITALL that I have been using successfully with Windows XP. |
