Please ignore this Post: found a tutorial
http://www.avsim.com/pages/0604/heli/helitutorial.htm
Finally getting some time to fly .. I have been going through all the lessons, and trying to understand Cessna - and am quite comfertable with it (know most the settings ).. now I want to try a bit of chopper. Tried to locate some tutorials in FS, but haven't been able to so far.
out of the default two FS chopper, I have only been able to take off using bell - even then I normally go into a spin (like a top).. once stabilized, I can then move forward very slowly. Haven't been able to land it either.
So would really like some pointers.. if there is a tutorial available, just type in the link, and I will read through. Thanks. |

| You know, thats really weird. I can fly the R22 like a pro with the settings on hard, but flying the Bell is impossible when on hard settings. Seems like other people can fly the Bell, but not the R 22 |

Hi ID,
I have my settings to custom maximum realism, except auto-mixure is ON. As I mentioned, I can get Bell to at-least lift up - R22 crashes even before that. The moment it lifts up, it either leans forward, or start a reverse spin (that might be me pulling back as it is leaning forward)
reading the tutorial - its a lot more harded than aircraft |

| Thats the thing. I have my settings like that too and have no problems with the R22, but that Bell is impossible to fly. Its too "responsive." |

Here you got the right man. This guy is guilty of having helped me a lot when trying to fly helicopters, he's been my teacher. The respective thread I think is somewhere in the lessons section, and was one of the major reasons why I suggested him to be a moderator. And this all happened back in the times when I was not in possession of FS2004...
ID, did you forget your own excellent instructions???

| During flight testing of the Bluestream Airlines Dolphin, Spectropro discovered that a lot of these choppers simply overcontrol with realism set high, so you may have to "detune" FS a bit for stability. I believe it has to do with the flight dynamics, FS really doesnt have a proper set up for rotary wing aircraft and sometimes .cfg files need tweaking. On a few occasions, adusting your controller null rates may even help. |
