I am curious... what is the best software for scenery design? Or better still what do you need to design scenery for MSFS 2004???

Check into a site called Scenery Hall of Fame, do some searches for tutorials and check into SceneGenX, you might also check out some of the object placer programs. You will also need to get familiar with Afcad2.

Once you have done that, then just jump in and get your feet wet. It takes a lot of patience, but once you've done it a few times it will get easier. You will also need the scenery SDK from microsoft.

After a while in the saddle then it will be time to burn up the forums, see you on deck.

If you have an extra $3, 500 laying around, 3ds Max is the best program. If you're on a budget then I'd say give gmax a try. It is based on the 3ds Max program just missing a bunch of the bells and whistles.

gmax can be a little intimidating at first, but once you get the hang of it, you'll be putting out scenery objects pretty easily.

You can click on the 4th button in my sig to get to the site to download gmax or you can get it off of the extras in disk one of your FS2004.
