i have a pentium4 3.0 Ghz and 512 mb memory and a Radeon 9000
i´d like to set my configuration to the maximum..
which card should I buy? i cant spend much money on the graphs...
and should i increase memory to 1024 Mb or something like that?
oh I have 2 slots of 256mb each one and I have not free slots... is it possible to add some kind of adapter to have more free memory slots besides only 2? and is that possible with the PCI slots also??
thank you |

| sell those 2 256 and buy two 512 memory blocks...that will enable a dual channel memory access, if your card supports it. About the G-Card...go for nVidia...I have an Ati Radeon 9800 and I am very dissapointed with it. And as soon as i can I will buy an nVidia one. |

Your manual will tell you what type/size memory your board can handle. If you don't have one, open the case, jot down the serial # of the board and check the manufacturers website for the specs.

yes, you are 100% restricted to your available slots. nothing (exept usb and such things) can be added. if you still want to upgrade more then buy a new motherboard. Or a new pc, come to that.
Note that the radeon 9000 is not so bad that you couldn't wait another year so you could buy a GF6800(gt) or 6600(gt). i have GF2(not gt, 32mb of memory) and still hold off. may this be an example! |
