This is the best tutorial on painting a/c with photoshop bar none. If it's too much for ya, read it again till you get it. If you are an avid photoshop user it should be easy to get. You won't find a tute thats easier than this...

Exxman, you just saved my butt on your thread. I am trying to learn how to paint, but was having a couple of problems. Thanks to the info you posted I am better off and informed. I have adobe 6.0, and it was VERY educational. I hope G/S doesn't give up on me Laughing

Never RD, but there have to be questions in order to answer them. Exx' and I will keep you boys straight, but it takes lots of trial and error and be sure to make backup copies while you are working to save time when you make an error. Keep on paintin' Very Happy

Shocked oh no!!! that is exactly the tutorial i had trouble with. I got the painting part but then when i copyed and pasted my files into FS2004 (i was repainting the 747) it appeared as a black screen and it wouldn't let me choose it. i guess i dont need help on the whole tutorial, just the part where you get it in FS.

Once you save your paint file in Pshop as a targa you need to use DXTBmp to convert the file for use in FS. There are other tutorials and instructions on the POS website to do that as it is quite an involved process and there are a couple of ways to go about doing it. Stick with it, you are almost there...!

one last question and ill leave everyone alone. when you repaint a plane, do you have to repaint the whole thing or can you just paint like the body without painting anything else. Will it still work?? and also, does anyone know a good website where i can get paintkits for all kinds of planes

You can repaint any part you like as long as you follow the procedures we layed out for ya. As for paintkits, there are lots of them out there. Click this and navigate to the aircrafts page and you'll see a list of the biggies in FS models and paintkits...

Check the tutorials section, accessible from the main page in the links on the left near the top..."Tutorials". There you will find Exxman's latest contribution. Part of his tutorial involves adding a new livery or texture to an aircraft's list of variations. If you do not find what you are looking for, or still have trouble, let us know and we'll walk you through it. I have reviewed Exx's tutorial and it should guide you through the process okay.

Sad k, i got how to modify the cfg file (thanx exx) but my plane still won't appear in FS2004. I mean, its there. Well, i go to create a flight, and when i go to choose my plane i go to boeing-747-747RDK (747RDK is my repaint) but its just a black screen. and when i try to choose it, it says something lke an error. Did i repaint it wrong?? I noticed that some of the texture files in the texture folder were black and i couldn't repaint them with photoshop. What files are those?? I appreciate all your help guys and i know i'm being a pain, but i just have to know how you do this!!
