No money 121a...it's all FREE!!
And a small correction there EXX...you turned me on too Firefox, not the other way around and I do appreciate the suggestion that I switch.
I was also a diehard IE user, switched to Firefox and will never go back to IE. I had first hand experience of the security vulnerabilities inherent with using IE and haven't seen the same with Firefox since I switched. |

Well, just my two cents worth... as we are talking about the browsers..
Netscape was the king in v2: then IMHO, I think IE took over. The last nail on the coffin was when Netscape decided to take off dynamic font support in v6
firefox is a child of that source.. the last time I looked at it, it didn't support any dynamic font. Now being a Bengali (which is the 7th or 8th largest language in the world), I created my own bengali fonts and software.. and the only browser I can display my pages in are either IE, Netscape 4.7, or FireFox with ActiveX plugins (which is very buggy). Till FireFox adds support for such fonts, imho it will only be useful with OS native supported language.
just to open up another can: till "Cult of the dead cows" showed us what can really happen, we were all blind to the problem of windows hack over network/internet. We are supposed to be a lot smarter now. We have all the tools available to us to protect our privacy. I have been using IE exclusively since I dumped netscape back in 95, and never had a virus, trojan or any hacks: and thats having IE installed. As a programmer, I can tell you activeX is a wonderful technology (with DCom), and its a pity the firefox support for that is so buggy.
at the end: with respect to everyones opinion, I just stated mine. I am a great believer of OpenSource, and don't really think much of many MS products: but I will stick to IE (actually I am using Maxthon) for the time being (till it goes payware)
quick note: Opera been around for ages (lot longer than fireFox) and is the fastest browser around. |
