Are you talking about mesh sceneries or airport sceneries? I know at Flightsim there is a location map in which it will sort all sceneries by the location, such as new york and new jersey. Also try Avsim, they have quite a few sceneries there as well.
If your looking at payware, Simflyers has a JFK scenery released, and Flytampa is supposedly working on LGA. Hope these help... |

PC AVIATOR has a nice piece of software that covers the areas that you are asking about. I have Megascenery New York and I am very pleased with it.

PS: a few days ago, I told my son to order their newest addition to the Megacity software line for DALLAS-FT. WORTH. My birthday is coming up soon and I have dropped some nice hints to my son.
If you order Dallas Ft Worth before May 15th, you will also get 6 months of the COMPUTER PILOT MAGAZINE for free or they will extend your existing subscription. I love when they make offers like this that I can not resist. |

| I was looking for some scenery of cities in the northeast region (New York, Toronto. Its hard to find freeware city scenery. For Toronto I got this good addon from FlightOntario. The way flightsim depicts cities isnt the best so more buildings would be nice - speaking of that - does anyone know WHERE i can get a development tool that allows me to place my own buidings? |

| To be honest, I've only just begun playing with scenery a bit. There is a program called FS Scenery enhancer for FS2002 (a version exists for FS2004, I believe) and once you get used to the simple interface it is great for adding scenery OBJECTS such as planes, vehicles and BUILDINGS, etc. It won't create an airport, and you don't have to deal with AFCAD or anything, it is a neat way to hop around in the flight sim itself and add objects in real time as you go. I scooped my version of FSSE from the 'net and some of the objects shown in the selection menu won't show up no matter what and I'm not sure why but some do and I've built several very cool 'dioramas' at airports using airport vehicles, etc. If you had the patience you could do a lot of adding and manipulating while you fly around. Miind you, you are best adding ground stuff while you drive around, taxi around, I guess. The help file included is perfect and I've had fun with it. And you're creations are as easy to delete as they are to create. LAGO is the name of the company. ...My program for 2002 is called fsse102eng.zip or something like that. Some searches should turn up the latest program. Best of luck and have fun if you do try it, even though my version seems limited it is a blast. |

Popular tools for scenery design are:
Gmax - freeware
FS Scenery Designer - Payware
But to stay on topic, try www.msfsgateway.com to check out some of the top sites regarding various aspects of FS. Also, there is a thread here in the scenery forum about another site that hosts a lot of freeware scenery...check that out too.

| Wellll, I do seem to take the fairly easy newbie route when it comes to scenery design, in other words , so far I've been a chicken regarding AFCAD and other compliceted design interfaces (hence the FSSE route). I'm not lazy when it comes to searching around the 'net for the easy programs to enhance FS scenery though and I have not really found Pearson or Island Airport scenery that I was comfortable using. I'm a bit disappointed that there isn't a bit more default autogen stuff in the surrounding Malton/Brampton area where I live. There are buildings and textures from about Dixie road just West of Pearson Int'l and some density in Brampton West & Mississauga but it's so not accurate! (FS2002) My point is, I have had some success with Lago's FSSE but I just found a program called Runway 12 Object Placer. If no suitable airport stuff can be found at these locations you can at least easily spruce up airports , etc. yourself! I haven't done my research yet on Runway 12 or downloaded it (I have a sinking feeling it may only be for FS2004...please please please...) but that's next on the agenda after this post! There are some big scenery downloads available for FS2002 for the GTA (TWO part download I think) and I saw a City Centre Airport download one time but I take such a framerate hit with big sceneries that I shied away once I found them. I can't remember which site had them though, sorry. Use the good 'Sim site's search engines and you shall recieve! |
