Ok, I am proficiant to make a half decent take off and landing now in a 737-400 but would like some advice on the flight plan.
I will take off and once reached a suitable altitude I will switch on the AP in GPS Mode and wait to get near my destination.
However At what altitude is the best to fly and when to start the decent??
Also in the Flight Plan you can set the cruising altitude, how does this
work with the actual flight??
Thanks |

Are you asking about FSNAV flightplans or generic? Try an IFR plan and it will give you an idea of when to descend/ascend. Altitudes are given for a reason...to place each aircraft in a certain zone for tracking purposes I guess. Don't want people flying all over the place wherever they wish cause then it would be chaos. There are certain regulations that apply to altitudes...a search via Google should get you the answers.
