Is it possible to crashland any of the aircraft in Fs2002 on water? Even on ground for that matter? They add real variety to the simulation, just wanted to know if it was possible. thanks

that depends on what You mean by crashlanding. you are not given directions to do so or anything from the atc, but you can land on the ground and water. if you land on the water, you sink very quickly, but it is fully possible to land on bare land. just gotta watch out for those trees and buildings. one of my best memories of all my flightimming was when i had just gotten fs2002 and then downloaded a dc-3.
it was about 3 in the night so i was too sleepy to navigate correctly, so i took off and just kept flying on rwy course. when i noticed my mistake (i was planning on trying to fly from Tartu (second larcest city in Estonia) to Stockholm, but i had accidentially already deflected to russia , so i lost a couple of hundred kilometers there. and i turned back.(i had the speed on 4x most of the time).when i was above the middle point of the baltic sea, the engines died. yup, out of fuel. but fortunately i was pretty high, (no, not doped, flying the airplane i mean) so i glided about 100km! then i landed on Gotland (Swedens largest island) on a plain. it was uber-cool, i could not imagine what i had just done. most combat sims don't let you land on the ground without crashing... and then i put the speed on about 16x and watched the stars and moon move...really awsome, i will never forget it! |

No, by crash-landing I mean landing on the runway/ground WITHOUT the landing gear deployed. I have tried about twice and failed.

well that depends what You want it to do. Peterrr here obviosly wanted it not to show the crashed! sign too early. half of Your a/c goes through the ground and it then comes to a stop almost instantly. What we here (yes me too) wanted was that when we crashland then You crashland then You slide on, perhaps rotate etc. the ´thing´ in fs... it´s just too boring

Yep, thats exactly what I wanted (slidey thing.) I have managed to make the aircraft sink under the ground before, and it looks quite bad. Is there away to turn on the damage effects also? Like fires, wing snaps etc...

Add an entry in your aircraft.cfg under the [fltsim] heading with Notepad as follows:
visual_damage=1
If the model has the damage effects built in then it will show them. If not, it's not modelled into the a/c.

I know what peter is/was looking for. And yes you can gently slide your a/c on the runway, wheels up, and land, sliding to a stop. Some a/c are easier than others. Depends on the contact points in the a/c cfg. What crash effects you have, and what you have for damage, so on and so on.
You can turn off, if built in, the contact points for the belly, but it is trial and error to find it. This will let you belly land and when the wings hit the ground, cause it to have a fire ball, if you have the right effects to do so.

EXACTLY, what I am talking about. If you DON'T KNOW, then don't say anything. People are trying to get GOOD information, NOT, GUESSES!! They want to know if they can or can't do this or that, or need help doing this or that, whatever. Putting in your 2 cents, not knowing how it works (FS9/2004) and being a nooby, lower than a rookie, hurts the site and the information they are trying to get.
Your only hurting your own image, and ppl see this. You can possibly be considered unreliable with bad information. BE VERY CAREFUL in what you think you know!!!!!
