Gee, does anyone even use Runway 3, a runway only placement program that's really simple for the brain-lazy like me? I use it in F2002 along with Lago's FSSE object placer to easily make airports anywhere I want. Lately I have been finding Islands not far from Hong Kong Int'l and putting in runways and buildings, vehicles, etc. Since not all objects appear for me in FSSE I often sink a skyscraper way into the ground to create short little buildings that suit the location. This sometimes messes with building shadows, especially if the structure is sunk into a hill, but I can live with that. My main annoyance is that 1 in 10 flights in these areas is interrupted with MS flight sim error messages that pop up in a window and freeze the sim'. I imagine there is a conflict of some sort going on as FS is trying to render everything properly. It seems to happen with add-on aircraft only. Sometimes just before the error message the aircraft will wink out of existence in spot view and the screen freezes but the engine sound continues for a bit. Every once in a while I get a scary "blue screen of death' and a message like " equal or not less than" and a physical memory dump begins. Not a whole lot of fun while trying to enjoy my new airport. It seems to happen whether I've built on a small fairly flat island or an elevated more complicated terrain. Sorry for being somewhat vague with details but I am hoping someone recognizes these symptoms with these programs. Any feedback would be appreciated!

Are you overclocking your system at all?
Updated all drivers for everything?
Check temperatures for overheating?
Your description is great...good job! Now if you could post up your system specs we'll try and help ya out some more...

More info:
PIII 550, IBM desktop
384 or 448 megs sd 100 ram
ATI 7000 64 meg AGP card
Windows 2000 running on drive C, 8 gig (must be 5400 rpm). FS2000 running on D drive, 20 gig (probably 7200rpm).
FSscreen often running in background
FSSE - runs within FS - fly with editor off as recommended
Runway 3 - Properly placed in FS2002/scenery folder
World Airport upgrade add on
World Autogen building upgrade add on
Contrail effect add on
World enviroment upgrade (nice sunsets!)
Lots of add on aircraft (tweaked visual damage & smokesystem for most)
Files all over the place in add on folders (outside of FS) zipped & unzipped.
D'oh!
Need to update ATI driver, haven't since purchase 3 mos. ago.
1184 by whatever x 32 on a Compaq flat screen CRT.
very dense for autogen stuff
massive aircraft textures
most terrain sliders near max
no reflections (water or aircraft)
no anti- aliasing
use aircraft and building shadows
some problems with blurred textured as hardware tries to keep up - fix w/pause
UPGRADE AND FS9 IMMINENT but soaking FS2000 for all it's worth and counting pennies.
Air conditioned basement is quite cool and no overclocking
Frame rates are often choppy with lots of buildings or big-file add on planes but pretty sweet for the most part.
I will post some appropriate screenshots next reply, I took 'em and just have to I.D the files so I know what I'm posting. THANK YOU for any help, back soon.

Off the top of my head I'd say you are pretty much maxxed out on what your PC can handle. BSOD is probably due to the strain on the PC/Bus systems and she just doesn't want to work that hard...

Yup, I'll be in heaven with FS9 being shredded up with a PCI express 3Gig screamer! And I think Nvidia next time over ATI, and AMD is getting my bucks, too. I can't wait to take advantage of the apparently easy program Runway 12, or finally dive into some real scenery creation with more complex programs. I'm off to work but thank you for input so far and I will post some shots for curiosity's sake in the very near future.
PS. I can't get more than half of the objects in LAGO's FSSE program to actually show up in the scenery. They're present in the drop down menu but after trying to insert the object a window tells me the object doesn't appear in the scenery library and this may cause it not to show. All the ships work but none of the people and a lot of vehicles and objects just don't work. The LAGO folder sits in the FS directory and all the bitmaps and textures seem to be within that but I don't know if I have to do some manual moving of these files into appropriate scenery/texture folders in FS or what? At least all this stuff keeps your brain working eh? Anyone have the same problems with FSSE?

Well, after flying around the disputed area a little more, I realize Exx is right, it just seems like too many calculations for me poor processor and older video card. I could dial back a lot of settings but I'll just have to deal with what I've got going on until upgrade time. (That'll be a sweet weekend!) Most of the time my flights are pretty smooth anyway, well, until I start mucking with scenery and subsequent terrain alterations!
