A couple of quick questions for the pilots regarding measurements used in aviation. 1: How far is a Nautical mile? and 2: how fast is a knot? I've always pondered this great mystery... |

a nautical mile per hour is a knot. a knot is 1.852 (or in some cases 1.853) km/h. so a nautical mile per hour is 1.852 (or in some cases 1.853) kilometers per hour.
also, a knot is 1.1515 miles per hour, so a nautical mile is 1.1515 in miles.
and You are NOT an idiot, i dont know many things either. What's the meaning of life? See? Dont know. And i still am no idiot.
I think.

Thanks for the info guys. Makes alot more sense. I was more or less just curious, as none of the ground vehicles I've seen have airspeed indicators |

Ground vehicles don't usually have airspeed indicators because they are GROUND vehicles, they have speedometers. |
