Does anyone here use the CH Yoke, Pedals and Throttle Quadrant? I have had the yoke and pedals for a while and recently bought the throttle quadrant. I have been trying to set it up using the CH Control Manager program but I can't get it all configured. My Throttle Quadrant won't calibrate correctly (when you move the levers, they move different distances in FS9. Does anyone have a Control Manager map they can send me? Does anyone have any setup advice? I haven't flown for weeks, I spend my free time trying to figure this out...I'M GETTING ANGRY!!! Please help before I strangle the cat.

Anyone out there have experience setting up multiple controllers or the CH Control Manager? I can't get the throttle quad to calibrate! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Have you asked CH products about the situation?

I use all three and I've got what you need. I just can't lay my hands on the document right now. I'll keep looking but in the meantime: Step back from the cat!

1)Use the "Direct Mode". Mapping is not required with FS9 unless you want to use it.

2)Go through each device in FS9/Controls/Assignments/Joystick Axes and delete all axes and reassign them. FS9 doesn't have the setups for newer CH devices and does a lousy job at guessing. If you are using a quadrant don't reassign the throttle/prop/mixture controls on the yoke. (You can assign them to another function later if you like) Be careful as you go from one device to another or change tabs. The selection window will jump back to the first device.

3)Open the ChCntlMgr and open the Test/Calibrate window. Open each device and calibrate it. When you get to the Throttle Quad, click on the throttle settings tab first. Set the X,Y,Z and R Axes as follows; Min-0, Max-255, Detent-140 and Deadzone-4. For the U and V axes it's Min-0, Max-255, Detent-255 and DeadZone-4. Then calibrate the Quad.

The last changes insure that you get full range and reverse and feather and fuel cut-off functions from the detents.

Edit: One other thing. On the toe brakes; For proper function, make sure you click the Reverse block for the X-Left brake and Y-Right brake.

You'll really enjoy them once you've got them dialed in.

I'll keep looking for the document that explains it and forward it to you.

Thanks Wheelright! I had all but given up. I will try your advice this weekend. Were you able to set the landing gear up on a toggle switch so that flipping the toggle up only stows the gear and flipping it down only extends the gear? That is how the CH Yoke has it set up by default but when I go to change it in FS9, it shows it as alternating gear up, and gear down every time you push the assigned button.

I hope it helps. I too went nuts trying to figure it out. I finally found the link and doc that I sent you after Googling and going way down the list to a link that took me to a forum with a reference to a string on another forum that linked to another string and another link and so on. In other words; it would be really nice if CH would let you know up front how to set it up. The help guide available at their site does okay for the yoke and pedals but tells you nothing useful for the quad set-up particularly in getting the detents to work. BTW, if you don't already have the pay version of FSUIP, tweaking controller assignments is one of the places it really shines.

Regarding the gear switch; You can still use it as originally assigned. You only delete the axes and not the switch/button settings. I opted to set the switch on the yoke you're referring to as, down raises and lowers the gear and up sets and releases the parking brake. One of these days, I want to set up one of the levers on the yoke to control the gear.

Edit: One of the really cool things you'll be able to do now is to taxi and turning in the DC-3, Howard and other taildraggers using small changes in the throttles. Once you get on a good taxi speed, use small up and down adjustments on one engine only for best control. Saves the brakes and tires Smile

Thank Wheelright for all the help. I almost got it done except for the reversers. Then CH Control Manager 4.0 came out... Here's what I posted on the CH forum:

I have had the yoke and pedals for about a year now and I would not fly without them. About two months ago I purchased the throttle quadrant because I really wanted the added realism of controlling each engine, prop and mixture individually. I wanted to be able to control thrust reversers and beta on the quadrant as well. I have wasted countless hours since then trying to get the throttle quad to do its job and play nice with the yoke and pedals. CH is no help. Why doesn't CH just tell us how to set up the throttle quad, calibrate it and make it ready for thrust reversers? I have to ask people on forums to get any advice on how to get the setup to work. I finally got all the axes on the quad to work as advertised in mapped mode (direct mode is all kind of screwed up). Things were looking up...then I downloaded version 4.0. I was hoping 4.0 would have addressed throttle quad issues. No, we can't have that. That would make too much sense. So now the thrust reversers won't set. I have tried CH Control Manager by itself. I have tried it in conjunction with CMFS, (when I convert the Devices.cfg file I get "range check error." I have tried it with FSUIPC. Does CH have a helpline you can call? I need someone who is familiar with CH Control Manager's shortcomings to talk me through setting this up. Really, does it have to be this hard to get a yoke, pedals, and throttle quad to work together? I'm ready to EBay this crap and buy some GoFlight stuff. I sure hope CH's representative at the 2005 AVSIM Conference has some F'ing answers for me.
