Hi,
Just starting to create my own flight plans, all appeared well until I have realised that if I open FS9 after the arrival time the plane is on the gate, however if I open FS9 prior to the arrival time nothing is there and no aircraft arrives!!!
Must be something simple, but what.
Will be grateful for any assistance.
Thanks hopefully
Stewart
Press ctrl+W to see all AI aircraft in sector
Press W for full screen
Keep pressing ctrl+W until you find your created flight. Should be in the air somewhere near. You may have to fiddle with the time some: Jets about 5-6 minutes before AI arrival time, Props about 10 minutes ahead.
Let me know if this works, it does for me and I have created many, many AI flights, created and printed scedules, and so on
Thanks for that Richard, I now know that the fault lies with EGNJ Humberside Airport (downloaded version) having tried the same flight into Leeds Airport.
Any thoughts anyone what the issue might be. As Richards says i can view my flight above Humberside however it just flies on by!!! into the sunset.
You're more than welcome, stewartkingwood. Your problem at leeds reminds me of the same thing happening to me a long time ago, before I had Ultimate Traffic. I had Alaska Airlines flight plans downloaded, and at one minor airport in the Alaska panhandle, the plane would fly right on by. I never did solve that one because I was already thinking about getting a comprehensive AI program and wasn't as experienced at TTools as I am now.
A couple of ideas come to mind:
1. Are you sure the ICAO code is correct?
2. Are the airports the flight plan serves close to each other, and, if so,did you set the flight altitude higher than absolutely necessary? The same concepts seem to apply to AI as to real life in some cases it seems, and I suspect the the AI program element can 'lose capture' under these conditions and orphanize the flight.
Before setting up an AI flight, I use FS Flight Planner to find the distance and minimum altitude for that flight. Then, using that information, I establish the flight altitude logically. In real life, if I were a pilot, I don't believe I'd want to spend a whole flight in maximum climb followed immediately by maximum decent. Not logical, hard on aircraft and pilots and a real fuel burner. Avgas and Jet A are just too expensive these days (assuming you're into 'As Real As It Gets')
You might try applying the above and see how it works. Let me know. If not, list your TTools flight plan and I'll check it out myself and debug it if possible. Anyone watching me day in and day out would conclude I like TTools (in conjunction with AFCAD) flight planning even more than flying, and I LOVE FS flying!
Good luck,
Richard
P.S. My wife commented today that if I take on a problem, I'm like a puppy with a slipper in it's mouth - just won't let go until done!
I see we are both the same sort of vintage age wise!!
No the airports are quite a way apart, Palma and Humberside, yes EGNJ is the correct ICAO and am flying at 5500. So I am quite stuck, not sure if the problem lies with the IFR system for Humberside .
If anyone has any thoughts i will be grateful, issue is with various aircrarft not just the single one.
Stewart, copy and paste the flight plan information for any AI A/C flying into the airport that's giving you problems. Maybe we can find something there first.
Give this a try and see if it does anything. You have the flight departing on Thursday which is represented by the "4/" before the departure times. In all of the examples I've seen, and the way I set my "WEEK" flights up, I followed those examples with no problems. Each time reference is preceeded with the day of the week indicator. Your example above only shows a "day" indication (4/) on two times. It's a long shot but probably the easiest possible problem to rule out first.
Edit your flight plan to look like the one below:
Flight plan
AC#1571,G-THOB,20%,Week,IFR,4/08:05:00,4/12:43:11,220,F,452,EGNJ,4/13:50:00,4/18:28:11,220,F,453,LEPA
Problem now solved, plane now touches down and parks correctly. Did not realise that the /4 needed to be on all times, will ammend my methods from now on.
With a small airport like Humberside I need all the services i can get!!!
Hadn't thought of it myself yet, either, not having the flight plan. Having probably made every mistake (especially the dumb ones), I have gained some expertise in de-bugging them.
Richard
Low flight is fine as long as the surface is not above you!
