i have used AFCAD to add on to KCHS. since i started using it, i have added parking at the commercial airport, general aviation, and CHS AFB for the c-17s that are stationed here. I have also added a 3rd runway just off of taxiway K, off of runway 3. ... My problem is, fs9 will not recogzie my rnwy 9 / 27 as an actual runway, or tell me to taxi to it if i want to use it... what gives?? also, kchs taxiway designators only go up to K, can i add L-Z so that i can add on to my airport?? when i start up fs9, i can taxi to, take off, and land on 9/27, but ATC doesnt see it.... groundsquirl, exx, anyone else, if you have any suggestions, please! feel free. or email me @ pr2firefightersc@aol.com with suggestions. thanks.

Check out the readme in AFCAD...gives you the answer to all the questions you asked...and more. One of the best help files out there that I've ever seen and has taught me everything I need to know about ATC and Airports in FS.

i looked all through it, and nothing in there says how to add more taxi-designators than what is already at your airport... unless you are building from scratch. if you have afcad v2.21 i could send you my airport and let you take a look, but for whatever reason ATC cant see that there is a taxiway connected to rnwy 9/27, and it will not give instructions on to use it

Did you do an error check in AFCAD to make sure all taxiways are connected properly? Sometimes they look like they are but the error check shows they aren't. Try that first.

Good answers, all. Also, ATC dosen't seem to recognize new runways or ILS's, and it's runway selection seems to be hard-wired, subject only to wind direction. Correct me if I'm wrong on this, but i've NEVER been able to get ATC to let me use ANY other runway for takeoff or landing unless it was paralell. ATC will recognize AFCAD added taxiways and route you via them. It's all in the AFCAD Help document which requires Adobe Acrobat reader. ATC does recognize new runways if they are at a new airport, but stlll dosen't recognize ILS additions.

However, you can always taxi to and take off from a runway of your choice, and land on one of your choice. Tower will reprimand you, but you can contact ground when off the runway. You can also fly an added ILS even though Approach or Center has directed you to that runway as a 'Visual Runway'.

have looked at the Error Reporting in AFCAD.. nothing anywhere is messed up, everything checks out just fine. just ATC cant "see" the taxiway or new runway. my airport is KCHS, new rnwy is 9/27 off taxiway K, off of existing rnwy 3 (at the base end). i can taxi to, take off, land, and everything on that runway. have made starting points, and have even closed 3/21 \ 33/15 to try and force ATC to use 9/27 and it still wont use it..... i have no idea. i might try that parallel thing and see what i can come up with... thanks

ATC can recognize new runways MoMan...you have to assign the frequencies to the runway so that ATC can call them. That would be next on your list Propwash...

Have you assigned the new runway landing/take off controls? Which end will be for what? I made a 3rd runway fro KSEA before Flytampa released their amazing scenery. It worked just fine, letting all arrivals fly in with no problems, after I assigned the runway to landings, haha. So give that a shot.
