I've been looking at Delta Connection Academy for the place to get all my certificates after my 2 years of college, and hopefully be hired from. I read some reviews and they where not the best of the academy. I had already requested information about the academy as well as some numerious other academies including Flight Saftey and Phoenix East. I just wanted other opinions on Delta's Academy and is it well worth it. Will it work out if I stick with it. I really want to get to the airlines as quickly as possible but at my pace. I don't want to rush through it and forget what is going on. I've heard stories on that. ... I really want to work for Delta and not really "Mesa" (Any other airline will do).. I talked to a flight attendent for US Airways Express and she said that Mesa doesn't really treat their employess well. I really want to work my way up in the Delta system and hopefull one day be employeed by Song. So is Delta Connection Academy worth it??? |

| Well, I have not been to this flight school, however, most of the flight schools I have been to, (in the U.S.) and Iv been to 4 of them, and all of them tryed to rip me off,(milking) and others too. Most Flights schools in general are a joke, and can not be trusted. Right now the airline bussiness is not good (in the U.S.) Here in the UK, it is much better, and your chances of getting a airline job are far higher, I am a dual Citizen of both countrys, so right now Im living in the UK working on my ATPL. I belive song is going bust. The best thing to do is just start working on your PPL at a trust worthy flight school, dont try to run before you can walk. |

Guff,
Wow, do you have a delimma to deal with. Sorry to hear that, as I think I would like you to pilot my next flight. But about 5 years from now.
Have you googled other flight schools?? I did, and couldn't believe the options that are out there.
My suggestion would be to contact pilots themselves and hammeer them, or join the Military. Alot of the pilots have military experience and then went to commercial.
Just an idea to throw at you

| I am currently attending Phoenix East in Daytona Florida. I've been with the school for a year now and am doing very well. Phoenix East is a very outstanding school. I looked into others also. Be weary about schools that claim to have an affiliation with airlines. Most of the time its not true. As I said I highly recommend Phoenix East. Very nice administration as well as instructors. Comfortable environment also. The price is also ALOT cheaper than most other schools. Check out their Professional 3 program (this is the one I am in). What you get is Private, Instrument, Multi-engine, all your instrructor rating up to Multi and also Glass cockpit training. After, you'll become an instructor for the school to gain time and a pay check until you go through the interview process to get an airline career. Best of luck. Chris |

| Thats just part of the programe, nothing special. Take a self defence class, and CPR class, that would look good. Remember, from your PPL to your ATPL is a VERY hard and long road, and even then, I know pilots that have an ATPL and still cannot work for any airlines, they are flight instructors, thats what you will need to do to build at least 2000 hours of flight time, including at least 250 multi engine time. Becoming an airline pilot is not just like any job out there, its like becoming a doctor, so trust me when I say this, Do not look to far down the road, start on the basics of flying, and get ready to work on your PPL, just take your time. Trust me, with the airlines the way they are right now, there is no rush. |
