I'm relatively new to this board, haven't posted any questions yet, but am thrilled with the wealth of info one can get from fellow simmers. Absolutely amasing!! So first of all I would like to wish all of you an excellent 2006 and many more exciting flight hours in FS 9.
I'm playing FS 9 on my day-to-day computer and run slowly but steadily out of space on my HDD with all those great add-ons. So I have decided to buy a separate computer dedicated only to FS 9. Any advice from you guys what to consider and what to buy? I have about 3,000.- US$ to spare (without the monitor etc.).
Thanks a lot in advance for your kind help,
Bernd |

LOL...Sandpiper is a 'her'...that's okay bud. And it is a great article.
I would only offer advice in that you go for a socket 939 setup with an AMD processor. If you can afford it (and it looks like you can) go for a dual core unit. Now...FS and some other progs out there don't utilize it...yet. But they will as it is an affordable yet very powerful alternative to amassing huge amounts of CPU power. Single core is most likely on it's way out. SLI is another type of config but quite expensive when comparing to alternatives both in cost and quality and frankly...trade up your 150FPS for better quality.
With your budget, you should be able to put up a smokin PC with a Monitor. If you want to go nuts...go for the Dell UltraSharp 2405FPW screen to compliment the rest of your rig. Even at a $1K sticker for that screen, leaves you with more than enough to put together a monster PC. Good luck!

| Thanks, Exx. I'll consider that. By the way I love your UA plane under the Golden Gate bridge. Looks absolutely great!! Have done the same with Airforce One. George W. refused to join me though. |
