My Fs2004 kept freezeing so I called Microsoft and they said my
Geforce FX5200-128 had a out of date video driver and I needed to download a updated video driver. My question is that do download a updated video driver from microsoft.com or the Nvidia website?Does it matter?

Get it from Nvidia, as they are the makers of it, not Microsoft.

Hey, taking MS' advice can be a bit like asking CNN what the most important news item of the day is.....you'll get an answer, but it may not satisfy your situation. The fact is, just because MS says a driver is out of date, does not mean that it is not functional, or you wouldnt be able to read their advice anyway. The latest driver is not always the correct driver. Driver code gets changed to correct application errors and expand functionality in some instances. You need to read the change log to see if the driver update applies to your program environment.

Remove your old Nvidia drivers via the Control Panel. Reboot PC. Install the Nvidia ones by their installer. It does everything automatically.

There should be some sort of installation instructions available at the site you downloaded the drivers from. Deleting is not uninstalling, check the install instructions.
