Yes. They are ATA cables. Some people call them ribbon cables because they are flat like a ribbon.  |

| I thought ATA cable connectors had a notch on one side, and on the motherboard, where you connect the cable, also had a notch. That way you couldn't plug it in backwards. |

You are probably correct.
As I stated above, I think that most ribbon cables have a notch on both ends. You need to remember that I fryed my motherboard about 7 years ago. I do not remember the specifics except that it cost me a lot of money.
I assembled my current computer setup by myself about 2 or 3 years ago. Back then, I used the red nail polish several times for several different types of connectors just to "play it safe".  |
