i have just downloaded a meljet b777. i took it on a flight from EGLL to FVHA no problems occured during flight but when it came to touchdown thats when i discovered a problem. When i was just a few feet from touchin the runway i pulled the stick to about 2.5 to 3 degrees, expecting that the plane will make a gentle smooth touchdown with the main gear first and myself gently pushing the nose gear down this did not happen. the nose gear heat the ground soon after the main gear but very fast i did not even feel being in control of the plane at that point. it was not a hard landing to prove this i tried with another plane on the same aproach but touchdown safely. i again tried to land at another airport with the meljet b777 this time egll the same problem arised 'the nose gear coming down way to fast just after the main gear hit the ground and also not responding as i tried to keep it in the air a bit'

hope u can help, may it is the a/c config

well this alwasy happens with me ....
i think it is just an eror with meljet..
the thing to do so that you dont touch down to fast is to is to touch down and then pull up .and hold your your spiolers down and your reversers off for like 2-3 seconds after touch down.. its not realy easy ....just some defect with meljet....

just figure out some way to work with it ...i did ...i was wandering the same thing too.

no... you need to pull the stick up a little more when the main touches down, and slowly push the nose down... also use more flaps if there is not enough lift............

Hello Tufe,

My "two cents" here is to make sure your flaps are set correctly during decent and of course on short finals. You should be at around 160-180 knots airspeed (20% flaps) on finals, and then slowly reduce throttles to touchdown at around 150 knots with flaps at 30%. You'll want to use elevator trim also to keep her nose level until you flare just before touchdown. That's the way I get her down, and she always touches down smoothly for me now. I also had those problems when I first downloaded that model, and I still don't make perfect dead center landings every time Embarassed Laughing I hope this helps! Wink

I use full flaps for touchdown. Bman, do you find using 30 degree flaps at touchdown more effective?

Hello Viche,

30% flaps is full flaps on the 777. Smile

Any chance your autobrake was on RTO? Could that cause this? Or if the autobrake effectiveness in the aircraft.cfg file is way too high? I think it can have the effect of slamming the nose into the ground in such cases because of the forward momentum of the a/c and the tendency for that to pivot on the main landing gear if the brakes are already set and too powerful. I have had this once on the Learjet (lighter aircraft than the 777 so easier for this effect to manifest) when I applied the wheel brakes before touchdown!

perhaps its the weather? the meljet boeing 777 is too good to give up.... pull up more... maybe you are touching down too hard.. if you touch down to hard it will slam forward... so touchdown lightly and hold stick up a little more

Last I looked, Melvin is a one-man operation. Does his own modelling and FDE, and I suspect it is either the latter or a load problem. Try emptying the a/c right out and then adding payload in certain areas to retest.
