I finally got everything set up and running. I'm currently overclocking about 12%.
With all FS2004 settings at maximum, I'm getting 35-55fps minimum (like at SEA-TAC with lots of 3D clouds).
With a 172, fair weather, and all max settings, my FPS is over 70, and if I leave it unlimited, it'll hit 120-140.
The absolute lowest frame rate I saw was 18fps, flying the 747 from spot plane view while panning around Seattle. It was one narrow slice of the pan. The rest was about 35fps
Sell your car. Upgrade your PC. Never leave the house again. You'll be happy.
With a big rig like that, why in the world would you want to overclock it? Every time that I read computer articles, they always tell you to "Proceed With Caution". They tell you over and over and over again that you can void your warrenty and cook your system if you overclock it. I can understand someone overclocking an "old" computer if they have nothing to lose. However, why would you want to overclock a brand new expensive system like yours?
When you reach my age, you lean towards Bonds rather than Stocks. If I was going to overclock something at my age, it would probably be my lawnmower. Over here in my part (and probably your part) of Florida, we like to get the grass cut as quickly as possible so that we can get back inside to cool off.

LOL! I might be close to your age, skipper... 50 is approaching, too high, with too much airspeed, and it won't be pretty, if you know what I mean.
I'm not worried about overclocking to the point of blowing things up. I've got 30+ years computer experience under my belt, so if it does blow up, no one to blame but me. The components I purchased have plenty of headroom. I'm not going to clock it 'til the smoke comes out... just enough to justify not buying the higher-priced processor.
Dan, you up in the Panhandle? I'm right next to Eglin AFB, a military aviation buff's heaven. I've seen everything fly in and out of here, except maybe an SR-71. Raptors from Tyndall come over every week. We've had B-2's, B-52's, etc. The main bread and butter is F-15 and A_10 training. Live fire exercises at night are pretty cool. The bomb blasts shake the whole house.
But there's nothing like the A-10 unleashing his gun with wings. Never heard anything like it.
Before overclocking, your rig could eat my setup as a before bed-time snack with a glass of milk. By overclocking your monster, you have made my rig look even smaller.
I am located in the St. Petersburg, Clearwater area.
